What's the best security camera: dome or PTZ?

I want to monitor the outside of my home, where there are regular car break-ins, and occasional robberies.

I have a T-shape to watch - driveway beside the house, and the street in front.

I can't decide between a single point-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera, or set of dome or bullet cameras. Any advice?

How do I setup vacation home surveillance cameras?

I would like to get cameras for my vacation home that I can view and control through the internet. I'd like them connected to a DVR, and to be motion activated so I don't run out of hard drive space quickly.

I have someone who is supposed to be watching the place, but I want to make sure he's doing his job and not having parties or anything at my house.

What are some good options?
I guess its hard for someone to suggest a specific product without looking at my home and getting more information.

I've tried looking at the websites of some of these security camera places and don't really understand all the technical jargon.

I would like to become a more educated consumer.

Try looking on the net through a Google search for security cameras relating to your situation. In terms of specific products that you should get, then I think you should first get some advice from a security expert which would advise you about what kind of products you should be looking for.

How can I know if my family is being stalked?

Since we have moved to our current province, we have been experiencing really weird events. The first notice of this was in our first apartment. My wife would msn me at work saying she thinks she heard someone try the door knob. Of course I would rush home. Then one day she said some older guy was parked by the sidewalk and when she walked by he called her closer, which she didn't do. He said he thought she was someone else and that he made a mistake. Then he started asking her questions like if she lived around here. I don't know how much, if anything, she told him, but he started talking about how he lived around here and he loves the area... blah blah. She was very uneasy about this, and the next day when she was going to pick up our daughter from school, I picked her up early and we went to see if the guy was there again. He was, in the same spot, stopped. I parked a ways away and waited for him to leave and followed him home. I then called the police who went to his house to question him. His answer was it was an innocent mistake. The cops left him alone.

A few months later, we went fishing as a family (my wife and daughter) between 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. We lived on the basement floor and we were the only apartment on that floor. we came home at 8:30 PM to find someone had smashed our lock but unsuccessfully tried to enter our apartment.
We called the cops, and they came over but couldn't do anything. The landlord installed a brand new lock.

A week later, in an even smaller window of opportunity and in the middle of the day, we went to church sunday morning from 10:30 AM to 12:00PM, we came home and noticed that the brand new lock had been tampered with. We called the cops who asked us if anyone was out to get us, and then told us to get the h out. We did.

New apartment as of october 1rst. Baby born early Oct. all seems well.

the weekend after we buy brand new tires, we have a flat. We take it back to get looked at and the guy tells us that there is nothing wrong with the tire, that someone just let the air out of our tire.

During the holiday season, 2 guys come to my door claiming to be Bell Inc. employees doing door to door sales. I didn't buy it so I went out into the hall with them took all their information and got some good hard looks at the guys.

One day early Jan, after going into our storage locker, I notice that the door is unlocked, and our luggage is stolen. I also notice that the super old and crappy practice amp that I had in the doorway was still there. Thought it weird that they would have left it, but it was a pretty crappy old amp.

Just this Saturday (Feb 12 2011), I went into the locker and it was unlocked again. This time all I could tell was missing was the practice amp. We went away for the weekend and came back sunday night. As we got to our apartment, there is a helium balloon floating outside our door saying "Congratulations, It's a boy!" no note, no card, nothing. In almost a panic (I see now I should have kept it) I took it and let it fly out my window.

I feel like so much has happened, but I have nothing to show to the police as proof. What can I do??? I live in canada and I need to know what action to take to protect my family. Please only informed answers if possible, I need to deal with this fast.
Also, and pretty important, some random woman sent my wife a facebook message about being from out of town and wanting to connect with people with the same interests. She never responded to her.

Hire a private investigator and install security cameras and to be safe get tazers and/or pepper spray.

My wife went to Wall Mart tonight to pick up a few things, while she was there she went to the electronics section and bought a battery for a small remote controal she had with her to make sure she had the right battery. She paid for the battery at the checkout in the electronics section, put the battrey in the remote, put the remote back in her purse, and went on with her other shopping. When she was done she checked out at the regular checkouts and was leaving the store when a man standing at the door approached her and told her she was under arrest for shoplifting . she told him she bought the battrey and she had the reciept to prove it. He then says "You Know you didnt pay for it I have the package" and told her to come with him. He then grabed her by the arm, she then asked him to to remove his hands from her arm. he refused and again told her she was under arrest, Placed her in hand cuffs and and Marched her in front of everyone in the store to the back room where he held her until the police came. While she was in the back room she again tried to tell him she had the reciept for the battery and it was in her purse. She was told to " Shut the fu*k up and sit down" and She was refused access to the bathroom... when the police came he thought it was a joke but had no choice but to give her the promisss to appaer because it was the Store cop that was pressing the charges .My questions are this
1) Is this a case of False or Wrongfull arrest in Canada ?
2) Is this a Case of Forceable Confinement ?
3) Is wall Mart responsible for the actions of the store cop ( is that who we would sue)
4) do we have a criminal case against the store cop for his actions. mainly grabing her by the arm and refusing to let her go
Oh Ya. My wife has NO record, is a new mother to our 7 month old son, she drives a $70,000.00 SUV we own our home and do NOT have money problems.... the battery was worth $6.97

Also what is this sort of settlement worth.. we would like them to settle fast and donate the money or wallmart gift cards to some local familys that wont have a very nice christmas.
As for the comment that there is more to this story.. there is not.. dont be so nieave to think there has to be more to it.. even rent a cops can be total idiots .. he refused to let her go in her purse to get the reciept... as for what Province we live in: we live in a small town in B.C (Powell River)

and what does a $70,000.00 SUV have to do with it?.... If you can afford to pay for a $70,000.00 SUV outright .. do you think its likely you would risk being arrested stealing a $6.97 Batt. ??
The rent a cop was Arrested this evening and charged with Assault X1 Forceable confinement X1. I am informed my wife will not see a court room over this matter, Not in the Hot Seat anyhow.. furthermore the Walmart manager was a TOTAL DIC* he basicly told us we were full of it and defended the rent a cop right untill the police showed up, put him in cuffs, and walked him through the store out to the car.. he even wore his jackett over his head, man it felt so good to see that....

He could be charged with kidnapping, forceable confinement, harrasement, unlawful arrest...the list goes on. What Prov. are you in as the powers of arrest for rent a cops varies by Province.
Definetly a lawsuit in the making, and were the local PD crazy for issuing a notice to appear? She had the reciept, there is camera footage , especially in electronics, this is one of the craziest judgement calls on the part of the "arresting" officer.
The store security is an employee of Walmart, that is who you take legal action over, and they really should suspend that security guard, bad attitude for one, and stupidity second.

What can an employer do with video footage that they claim is for security only?

I live in Canada, and I'm just wondering what an employer is legally obligated to tell us about cameras that they claim to be using for security purposes only. They are currently being installed, and cover more areas than they previously stated for the use they previously stated. My question is not, IF they're allowed to have cameras (which many people thought I was asking in my last question) , but what they are allowed to use the footage for. For example, someone is caught talking on their phone when they should be working, are they allowed to terminate that employee because they caught them on a 'security' camera. If they're installing them to monitor employees, do they have to mention that? Also, if they take that footage and upload it online, or use it in a promotional video without our consent, is that an invasion of privacy? Please include references... I don't care for opinions, I need fact.

(Yes, I realize that I've asked this already, but people thought I was asking if they're allowed to have cameras, which I wasn't. I know they're allowed, I just want to know what they are legally allowed to do with that footage, and if they are obligated to inform us as to who has access to that footage, for privacy reasons. I don't want to go home and find my workplace online somewhere for everyone to see..... This company has been fined for privacy invasion and disclosure of personal information in the past, which is why I'm asking this.)

They could not use footage in a promotional video. You own the commercial rights to your likeness. If they did wish to use the footage in any sort of a commercial way, they would first be required to have you sign a release form. However, if you've signed any sort of employment contract with them, that contract, within its terms, may already contain such a release.

They also can not publish the video in any way that would misrepresent you, or cause you to suffer any undue loss or damage. If they did, they could be held liable for such losses or damage, and you could bring a civil action against them.

They can not film you in any area in which you possess a "reasonable expectation of privacy." It would be illegal, for instance, for them to place cameras in the restroom, or a changing room -- anyplace where a reasonable person would reasonably expect that they're in a private area and are free from unwanted observation.

Other than what's mentioned above, however, they're pretty much free to do as they please with the footage. If you're filmed violating policy or committing some sort of offense -- whether you know you're being filmed or not -- they are perfectly free to use that footage to terminate you. It happens all the time. They can also publish the footage on the internet, or anywhere else, if they like, as long as it's not for commercial purposes, and the footage isn't used in such a way as to be misrepresentative of you, or causative of any *undue* loss or damage.

Not likley, but not impossible. At the very start of Season 2 we see a new guy walk home to his apartment in NYC and has his music player falls out the window a dove lands on it with a postcard from Storybrooke that just says "Broken".

Season 2, episode 6, "Tallahasse", flashbacks of our world 11 years ago show Emma was a small-time thief and stole the car she still uses from another thief, Neal Cassidy. The two fall for each other and steal food and stuff from stores before deciding to settle in Tallahassee after they sell some watches Neal stole a while ago. Security cameras caught Neal and he says he has to leave Emma and move to Canada, she offers to get the watches for him so they can still be together. She does and Neal gives her one as a gift and goes to sell the rest and met her in a few hours.

August catches Neal, saying he's been looking for Emma for 2 years, and she has a destiny to fufill and not with Neal. August asks Neal if he believes in magic, Neal scoffs until August shows him something in his typewriter box (we don't see what) August tells Neal about a curse and Neal needs to make a choice.

A cop arrests Emma saying her boyfriend set her up. Emma goes to a minmum security place for the one stolen watch Neal gave her. Two months later Neal meets August in Vancover and tells him to give Emma the money from the watches and the car. He also asks to be told when Emma's job is done so he can find her again. August promises to send a postcard. Yes, Neal is the mystery guy from the start of Season 2. Emma is sent only the car keys, at the same time she finds out she is pregnant.

Some think since Neal belived August so fast that he is actually Baelfire, but it is just as possible he is a regular person from our world. Baelfire will be seen in Season 2, but they have not shown what happened to him yet.

Baelfire's age when he went through the portal does not really matter because portals have already been shown to bend time and space. Like 28 years after Snow bit the apple, Regina in Storybrooke got the apple to use on Emma- because the apple fell through a portal a few seconds after Snow bit it. So the portal could have made Baelfire come to our world at any time.

When my mom's mom died, my siblings and I did everything we could to cheer up my mom. We literally LOL so hard that we had to leave the service. Later, at the cemetery, my brother and I decided to use my uncle's camera to make a "ghost movie" where I was the ghost. He said that when he went back to Canada and watched it with his family, they had a great time.

When my dad's mom died, I went to the funeral parlor, just to have a fight with a security guard so, I went back home, all my friends came over and we had the best dinner party since we left college :)

The biggest problem that we have here in Chicago, IL USA is that we have groups of people bound together by something as stupid as Skin Color that refuse to take responsibility for the horrific things happening in their neighborhoods due to their own culture and actions.

Example: Google "Chicago Food Dessert".
This means that in primarily Black American neighborhoods, there are not many grocery stores for the people of the neighborhood to buy fresh foods.

According to the people of the neighborhood, grocery stores and other major companies are refusing to build stores in their neighborhoods because they are "Racist" and are refusing to sell goods and services to the Black Community BECAUSE OF RACE.

There is actual legislation in the works trying to force companies to build stores in these neighborhoods.

The reality of the situation is that if Dominick's Grocery Stores could make a profit by opening a store on the Moon, they would do it because they are a company that exists to make a profit.

The reason why Safeway/Dominick's, Jewell/Albertson's, etc. do not open up stores in these areas and close stores that end up in the middle of a Black Community due to the constant shifting of demographics in neighborhoods city wide is because they CAN'T MAKE A PROFIT in these areas.

It isn't that the people won't come in and buy their fresh fruits and vegetables and meats... It is that when you are in an area filled with people that have been destroyed by a bad culture, where parents let their kids run wild and crime is something to be aspired to, they have to put in MUCH more security than in Non-Black Area Stores. They need to post a guard at each entrance/exit. They need to post 10X more cameras in the parking lots. They suffer horrific losses of product due to theft.

The people in the neighborhoods that are complaining about lack of access to grocery stores are the very people that loot the stores as soon as they are open, rob them, and force them to close.

This is why when you drive down the streets in summer, you see single family homes with small stores set up in the front yard... They sell soda, juice, candy, etc. from their porches because the last corner store was robbed for the 3rd time that month and had to close.

What people don't WANT to understand is that the color of their skin has NOTHING to do with this... It is about the culture these people were raised in and the Values they learn at home.

Same thing with Illegal Latinos in the US. It isn't that they are Latino, Mexican, South American, etc. it is that they are in the US illegally but saying "They are breaking the law" doesn't get headlines so instead the headlines say "AMERICANS HATE LATINOS! WANT TO KILL THEM! WANT TO DESTROY THEIR LIVES!" because THAT is the type of hype that sells, even though it is utterly inaccurate. Everyone focuses on Illegals from Mexico and South America while here in Chicago, we have a different type of Illegal Problem, specifically, Polish, Western European, and Middle Eastern Illegals that have come in on the Eastern Seaboard and come down through Canada. Chicago has more Polish nationals than there are in Warsaw, Poland.

The Latinos here are more pissed by the way that the Polish and Latvian chicks are getting all the housekeeping jobs and how the Polish guys are taking away the Construction Jobs and doing half the quality of Latino Labor.

My aunt actually didn't buy a house because it was rehabbed by Polish Workers. Not because they were Polish but because they did a HORRIBLE job and MANY people are finding out that Latino Construction is FAR superior to that of the Pols.
