On August 22, 2013 I noticed Elevator , 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 cameras system was down as well as the elevator IMS system Groups. I called security rover to verify if all the lights in inside each elevator were on. I checked the fire panel and it read. (POWER LOSS RTU4 AND RTU6 ROOF LEVEL). I informed rover to check the electrical breakers that supply electric to the front desk located on the 3rd floor north electrical room by elevator #5. All elevators are working properly. We were just having a small power failure. I also informed security rover to check the electrical room on the roof top but he was unsuccessful of taking care of the situation.

I want to put cameras at home but I don't know what security company I should get. I want cameras so I can watch my house when we travel plus if some one breaks in I don't want them to take the device that is recording the video at home.

It really depends on your budget, and whether you want remote monitoring of your cameras. Also depends on whether or not you can monitor/install them yourself. Plenty of companies offer surveillance analytics. But that might be a bit overkill for your residence.

Maybe consider talking to a security company. They can give you all of the information you'd need, and the call is free. You don't necessarily have to go with that company, but you will walk away with a lot of good information.

My big plan for 2013 is setting up some cams to record my house, so that I can peep in from my mobile device.

So far the best site that I've found is http://dhsecuritysolutions.com/surveillance-solutions/ -- they offer the services I need, and they were recommended to me by my coworker.

Still looking around for something in my city, but the DH site suggests that they have partners nationwide.

My best advice is to call a security company near you and ask them for an estimate to set up a camera system that can be remote monitored by you online. That's my plan if calling DH proves to be too expensive or impractical.

I'm looking for inspirational crafting, home decor, and/or fashion magazines that will ship to the USA. I found a magazine called Frankie, but it's only available in Australia as far as I could see. Google searches didn't bring up anything that fit what I need. The magazines I do NOT want: sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, quilting.

I plan on reading these magazines and cutting them up after I've finished them, all to add these inspirational images and articles to an inspiration board, and turn the remainder into envelopes for snail mail.

I don't have a very big range. I'm an alto, and I prefer singing lowish songs. I sometimes sing tenor too. One song that I can sing full on through is I Can Hear The Bells from Hairspray and Mama Who Bore Me from Spring Awakening. Maybe that can give you an idea of my range?

I'd like to find any song that good for auditions/preforming. Any song genre as well, just not country or rap.

With both these songs I can't sing the ending belt notes they sing. But everything before that I think I sing it pretty well. Are there any songs that you guys would have in mind that I can sing?

How to protect a PC without an internet connection from viruses ?

The PC has no access to internet
The virus infections are in most probability from USB flash drives
Will this work - put a windows login password (win xp) to restrict access
My question is, If you are not logged in - and someone inserts an infected USB flash drive, does the virus still travel to the hard drive

Another route I am planning is disable the USB ports
But I need one USB connection, which I plan on connecting from motherboard internally - not sure how it will work out
Disinfecting the system is not an issue
Issue is now to prevent future infections.
I do not have control over who is pushing what usb flash drive into the PC

So if you don't have this MS-patch, then you may very well get nailed.

Some iT's fill the external ports with epoxy...the only fool-proof idea I've tried.
If you believe this is intentional, hide a pinhole camera (running independently of the target PC) to capture the room/PC and get evidence.

How to prevent hooligans & terrorists from hacking into my WiFi network & internet in London?

I live in an ethnically diverse and racially sensitive suburb outside London which has a history of trouble in big and small doses. Those who remember the hooliganism of the 2011 UK riots will agree.

I also have a self defence establishment in the city of London where I teach people personal protection techniques. This place, as well as my home, have several WiFi connections that record in real time, 24 x 7. Some of these connections are tied to surveillance cameras and other security monitoring systems to detect suspicious activity including break-ins.

Recently, during an audit, I noticed several loopholes and vulnerabilities in my WiFi setup which could be bypassed, allowing access to unauthorized people. Some well-meaning neighbours and concerned community citizens too have complained of intermittent WiFi breaches, attempts at hacking by miscreants and unknown people (that's the tough part -- you never know who's going to target you, and why).

Following the horrendous Woolwich Attack and the deplorable beheading of the young British soldier in May 2013, I'm making a serious effort to ensure protection on all fronts. I can deal with the physical part, it's the technological part that I see as a weak link.

The last thing I need is some religious nut or far-right nationalist (this swings both ways) hacking into my WiFi network and using it for their senseless propaganda.

My question is: How do I beef up my WiFi connection so that it isn't hijacked by anti-socials and/or terrorists for their nefarious deeds? I want to do this the easiest and best possible way.

Install a military-grade encryption software on all your WiFi-enabled devices (laptop, PC, cell phone tablet). At the same time, do not broadcast your SSID (Service Set Identification). Do this and your wireless connection will become invisible, anonymous.

SSID is what the drive-by WiFi seekers will use to locate your wireless signal or network and sniff out for potential vulnerabilities in your setup.

Some of the vulnerabilities include weak passwords, lack of encryption on your router, etc. Once they find that, it won't take long for them to hijack it. (Trust me, these hackers latch on to your network like marauding leeches.)

Anonymity on a wireless network is the easiest, most effective way to safeguard your private space and your personal internet.

Snowden unveils NSA Satellite SAURON Program targeting Citizens

SAURON, or the Semi-Autonomous Ultra-high-Resolution Orbital Network, is comprised of a series of hundreds of low-orbiting cameras that can make out objects on the ground as small as 1 centimeter in size.

There are so many satellites in this network that they are able to effectively monitor the entire planetâs populated surface without interruption. According to slides Snowden shared, taken from the NSA presentation on SAURON, each spy satellite feeds directly into a data bank so large that it is able to retain the captured imagery indefinitely.

SAURON is also a reference to a villain in J.R.R. Tolkienâs âLord of the Ringsâ trilogy, an evil god of discord who appears in the material world as an ever-searching eye.

How to protect a PC without an internet connection from viruses ?

The PC has no access to internet
The virus infections are in most probability from USB flash drives
Will this work - put a windows login password (win xp) to restrict access
My question is, If you are not logged in - and someone inserts an infected USB flash drive, does the virus still travel to the hard drive

Another route I am planning is disable the USB ports
But I need one USB connection, which I plan on connecting from motherboard internally - not sure how it will work out
Disinfecting the system is not an issue
Issue is now to prevent future infections.
I do not have control over who is pushing what usb flash drive into the PC

So if you don't have this MS-patch, then you may very well get nailed.

Some iT's fill the external ports with epoxy...the only fool-proof idea I've tried.
If you believe this is intentional, hide a pinhole camera (running independently of the target PC) to capture the room/PC and get evidence.

The "Truth in Sentencing" laws are keeping criminals in jail longer so they're not out on the street continuing to commit the high crimes. There have also been tremendous increases in law enforcement personnel and security measusre such as cameras in high risk areas.


And good citizens are purchasing more firearms for personal protection and posting security signs, motion detectors, alarm systems, security cameras and motion-detecting cam-cords in and around their homes.

Yes, I do believe the statistics, and although violent crimes are decreasing, non-violent and petty crimes are increasing.

And though there is a national decline in homicides, murder is on the rise in the suburbs and other areas not traditionally associated with high rates of violent crime, According to the Wall Street Journal Report Jan 1, 2013. The rise is the result of criminals looking for easier targets outside inner city areas where police presence has increased in recent years.

According to the federal Bureau of Justice Statistics there was a 16.7% drop in homicides in big cities - (notice the qualification - in big cities) due largely to aggressive pollice patrol in cities like New York, Los Angeles BUT during the same period homicides rose 16.9% in their outlying suburbs.

When is it legal to use a voice recording in the state of California? I have a difficult "roommate" situation. My boyfriend and I have a lease for a house from August 5, 2010 through February 28, 2013. My boyfriend allowed a "friend" to stay as a guest starting in September 2012. He still has not left, has definitely overstayed his welcome, is not on the lease and refuses to fill out paperwork for the property managers, and is threatening to sue us or the property managers for subletting. He is, clearly, making our life hell, even after all we have done for him when he had no where else to go. He still owes his last legitimate roommate money for rent, owes $600 to SDGE (they came and shut down our service and account when they found out he was staying with us), and he has literally no money. His car's registration tags expired January 2012 and he then registered it as a non-op in December 2012 AFTER it got impounded, yet he still drives it everywhere.
Anyway, I have a voice recording of the three of us arguing the other day and was wondering, if we were to have to go to court, would it be legal to use it since my voice and my boyfriend's voice are both on the tape?
Also, how can we go about getting him out of our house? What are the laws as far as how much notice we have to give him (or if any) and how to go about calling the sheriff to escort him out? If we do have to give him (x) days notice, do we have to certify mail it for proof he would have received it? I have heard anywhere from no notice to 3 days notice to 30 days notice so please someone help who really knows and please provide a reference.
He is not legally allowed to be here, we have informed the property managers of the situation so we would not get in trouble for subletting (even though there was no written agreement in the first place for it to be even called subletting), and we have purchased a security camera system in case he decides to try and vandalize the house or our cars once we kick him out. When you have the consent of all parties being recorded (or let's say all parties understand that they are being recorded) . . . or when in a public place where there is no reasonable expectation of it being considered a private conversation/discussion.

California is a "two-party" consent state in this respect. "One-party" consent states (like Georgia, where I live, do not need that - and I have used that right constructively).

There are pretty strict laws/penalties concerning this, I suggest you read the page linked to in "Source(s)" below.

I want to put cameras at home but I don't know what security company I should get. I want cameras so I can watch my house when we travel plus if some one breaks in I don't want them to take the device that is recording the video at home.

It really depends on your budget, and whether you want remote monitoring of your cameras. Also depends on whether or not you can monitor/install them yourself. Plenty of companies offer surveillance analytics. But that might be a bit overkill for your residence.

Maybe consider talking to a security company. They can give you all of the information you'd need, and the call is free. You don't necessarily have to go with that company, but you will walk away with a lot of good information.

My big plan for 2013 is setting up some cams to record my house, so that I can peep in from my mobile device.

So far the best site that I've found is http://dhsecuritysolutions.com/surveillance-solutions/ -- they offer the services I need, and they were recommended to me by my coworker.

Still looking around for something in my city, but the DH site suggests that they have partners nationwide.

My best advice is to call a security company near you and ask them for an estimate to set up a camera system that can be remote monitored by you online. That's my plan if calling DH proves to be too expensive or impractical.
