Answer
Why get a security camera when you can hire some gangbangers to guard your house cheap pay and if they go to jail for shooting an intruder, JUST hire a new one.

How can I view my security cameras on any TV in my house?

 Synaxis

Hi
As the title says, I want to figure out how to watch a security camera on any television in my house.

I know that is is possible, because my school has a TV studio, and each TV in the classroom has basic local channels, but Channel 3 is reserved for the studio when they go on air.

So basically I want to do just that, but instead of having a complicated setup up with multiple cameras and broadcasting software, i just want to broadcast 1 camera on channel 3.

I determined that what i need is an RF modulator, (like this - http://www.circuitblock.com/mod-1001d.html it is similar to what my school uses anyway) but I am not quite sure how to go about it, or basically plugging it into my current TV signal. If anyone knows how to do this i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

PS, I have Verizion Fios which is now a digital signal. And Fios does not have a channel 3.
Most TVs are new HD LCD Flatscreen TVs with standard composite inputs and component inputs, and 2 of them have HDMI and VGA as well. The oldest TV we are using only has composite inputs.

Thank You little dog for your answer, I have thought about doing it your way, only it seems to much of a hassle to have to run another set of cables to each individual TV
"Feed the security video to an unused cable channel with a modulator." That is exactly what I would like to do. Could you elaborate on it a little more?

Answer
Rather than inject a special channel signal to the broadcast/TV channels stream, I ran additional cables to the TVs at my house.

The security cameras feed a security DVR. The security DVR records the video to a hard drive and there is a "Monitor" jack that can be connected to one or more TVs. At my house, the single monitor out plug connects to a box that has multiple monitor-out connectors. These connectors are cabled to the rest of the TVs in the house.

All of the TVs in my house have several AV-inputs. The yellow RCA composite plug gets the security DVR connection.

This way, if I want to watch TV, or satellite or cable or DVD or whatever at each TV, I can do that - and if I want to watch the security camera, I just select that AV input on the TV. The added advantage to this is the TVs that have PiP can have both whatever TV station and a small version of the security camera in the corner of the TV screen.

The other aprt that is helpful is that the security DVR is also connected to the computer network so if I am on the computer, I can get to the security DVR monitor view from any of the computers on the home network, too.

Since you did not tell us what TVs you are using, we have no way to know if you can do this or if your only option is to feed the security video to an unused cable channel with a modulator.

Hi, I just had security cameras installed and I was wondering if i needed to put up a sign saying I have cameras around my house? I heard if I heard if I don't it is like an intrusion of privacy or something? Thanks in advance!
Oh and I live in Las Vegas if there are any laws about it in my area

Answer
In your home or within in your property. nope.

Putting up a sign is a preventive measure to warn would-be troublemakers they might be caught on camera. You are not required to put up a sign for the invasion of privacy of people who come into your property..

Installing a security camera?

We've been hearing a lot of noises outside our house. And, my friend advised me to try installing a security camera. What are the benefits of installing home security cameras in my home?

Answer
I've been a product manager for Security Cameras for about 10 years. I believe the benefits are:

1) Pre and Post event recording (seeing what happened not only during a crime, but what happened just before and after)
2) if you have a camera at your front door, you have a better way to see who is at the door without approaching the door. If you hook the camera to your TV set, you can even see who is at the door without leaving your couch
3) Remote Viewing -- if you have your camera hooked to a DVR or if it's an IP camera, you have the ability to remote look in from anywhere that has an internet connection. I even have the ability to get live snapshots from my cameras at home via my cell phone.
4) Deterrant -- Cameras that are visible to would-be burglars, intruders, hooligans, etc, are great deterrants to those types of activities.

Try not to go cheap. The cheaper the camera, the worse the image. Resist that urge. Expect to pay between $700-$1500 for a really good, Day/Night, high resolution camera, installed, plus the price to record it. If you go cheap on this, like with a Swann or Qsee camera from Fry's, yes you'll be able to see if SOMEBODY is at your door, but forget trying to ID them later.

Security Camera Infrared Bullet what to install?

best security cameras for your house image

I want to install some security cameras at my house and not sure what type of cameras to install. I was thinking IR bullets. What do you think?

Answer
Hereâs a demo video and where I get my IR cameras that Iâve installed in the past that have worked out great for me. If you want to see and record whats going on at night you might want to consider a different camera for your install.

http://www.discount-low-voltage.com/security-camera-ecz230.html

If your residence in a very hot or cold environment and you plan on having these cameras up for a long time you might want to install a box camera or a large IR camera with a heater and blower built in. These cameras are a bit larger and not as attractive on a house as those small IR bullets but will last longer or you could just install the small IR bullet and see how long itâll last before you have to replace it.

If you want to be a little more discreet about the cameras you might want to install them under your roofs over hang.

How to sneak out of the house past security cameras?

Kiera

My dad recently installed security cameras around our house, and now it's about impossible to sneak out. He doesn't watch the camera videos very often, but I'm scared to try to sneak out because if he DOES watch the video then he'll see me! I don't wanna take a chance sneaking out. (At night)

Any ideas on how to sneak past them or turn off the cameras for a few hours?
Also.... any idea how to turn off the cameras?

Answer
I've done this before and there is no easy way. DO NOT try to turn off the cameras and then back on because he will see that a stretch of time footage is missing (while the cameras were off).

HOWEVER, it is possible: during the day, go to where the camera monitor screens are located in the house and analyze very very closely what their view range is. When you've accomplished this, you'll then know where you should not step into view of them. Of course, for all you know, they may not even have inferred sensors. (so they can't see in the dark anyway). You can test their night vision by looking at the monitors at night.
