I have two security cameras and two TVs. Can I just connect one camera to each TV through the cable plug on the back? One camera is a Dome camera and the other is an outdoor weather proof camera. I don't know any exact info because this guy I know is giving them to me for free tomorrow.

Answer
It is not necessary to use DVR for only two cameras. You can connect the video output from the camera to the video input of TV. If your tv have two video inputs, you can connect them together in one TV.(Usually Monitors are using for cctv networks) If you want to connect them to more tv's, use video splitter.

How much would it cost to set up Home Security Camera system?

I would like to put some security cameras around the outside of the house, because of trouble with the neighbors. I would like to view what the cameras see, later. I think I would need at least three cameras, one on the car in the street, one on the front porch area, and one on the back yard area. Or maybe two in the front.

What is the best way to do this?

About how much would it cost?

Answer
It depends what you want to do with the video.

An inexpensive consumer 4-channel surveillance DVR is about $300.
Add in a 500 gig hard drive for about $70 (records the video).
4 cameras - Average $100 each for outdoor rated, night vision, so $400... budget around $1,000 for a low-end, multi-camera, system.

The expensive part is the labor. Are you planning to install it yourself? How will the camera's wires get from the camera to the DVR? Thinking "wireless" cameras? They still need electricity - so is there power where you want to install the cameras?

Actually, "wireless" security cameras use more wires than wired ones... The camera needs power (1 wire) and transmits video wirelessly to a base station. The base station needs power and a wire to the DVR. Total = 3 "wires". A wired camera has one long "combo" cable that carries video and power.

How do you want to monitor that video? The DVR has a video-out connection that can connect to any TV with a working, available, composite (yellow RCA jack) plug. More expensive DVRs can be added to a computer network...

Frys (and Frysdotcom) has a good selection of security and surveillance stuff...

It seems like I am always viewing these images from security cameras on TV or on the internet and a person commiting a crime will be standing only a few meters away and yet you can barely see their face. I looked up these cameras on the internet and they are also expensive. Whats the deal? Also what is better dome cameras or the other normal looking ones?

Answer
Faulty expectations. If the camera was bought to replace a live person to positivly identify someone, it was bought for the wrong purpose. If it is used as an extra set of eyes for someone who is monitoring all activity, then it is used properly. The dome cameras are simply standard cameras housed in a dome so no one knows where it is pointed and will not be as distrubing to see compared to a bunch of cameras pointing at you.

setting up security camera remote viewing?

i have a lorex security camera system at my business.. and i followed all the instructions and set up my remote viewing.. but when i log in and go to my strategicvista.net site, it is blank!! could there be a connection problem at the business?? like maybe with the router? or do i have to have my pc connected there as well?

Answer
I had to bridge my DSL modem and go into the router and set up port forwarding, Also I had to go to lorex dns site and set up user and password. Then it worked. But I think tech support is free - give them a call!

Also make sure all cameras are enabled on viewing computer.

Is there a battery operated security camera that notifies U by email via phone that a door has been opened?

John D

Hi I am trying to find a security camera that notifies me by email or cellphone that doesn't charge you a monthly service, that has battery backup or battery operated!! I want it like this because these systems are not susceptible to people shutting off the breakers in your house or cutting your wire!! anybody know any security company that sells such a particular product?

Answer
Well sir I dont see that device anywhere.

What would make more sense is buy a UPS, (Uninterruptible Power Supply, aka battery backup..usually runs about $60 for 1.5-2 hours runtime. Is used by data centers in case of a power outage to keep electronics powered up.) buy a motion activated wireless security cam that records/sends notices when activity is present and attach the receiver to the UPS so when power kicks out, its still active. Ditto for the wireless camera if its in another location.

Keep the receiver close to your intenet modem if it doesnt have a bettery backup already isntalled into it. If the modem cuts off but the receiver is still fucntioning, it will probably just record but not transmit anymore data via the internet. If the modem doesnt have a backup, also attach it to the UPS. Unless they blow the breaker with explosives, you should be fine with a constant internet connection.

But you can also opt for a 3G wireless internet service thats attached to the UPS which will be transmitting off of battery power constantly, hwoever this too can be suceptible as a tech savy thief would jsut need to buy a radio jammer for $200 and knock out all cellphone signals on a wide spectrum within a good sized radius.

What kind of security camera should I get to view behavior from a different location?

I need a camera to put in my workshop. This location has electricity, but does not have internet. My home is about 500 feet away from my workshop. I need to be able to view activity from my home at any time. I want a camera that I can simply plug in to work or that will work wirelessly. Any ideas of cameras I could use for security purposes?

I would like to buy a security camera that I can plug into my computer and record everything without the need to purchase a dvr.
So my question is which is a good camera that comes with software to record everything in a computer.
Thank you!

Answer
I love looking at my security footage on the computer, too. I got my security camera at Spytown, and I couldn't be happier. I'm not going to suggest a specific camera, because I'm not sure what your home security needs are. But I'm sure you'll find one that hooks up perfectly with your computer!

I hope this helps!

How do you turn a camera in to a security camera that displays on my computer?

Q. I need to know if there is a program that can help me with that just in case i don't need to buy a real security camera.

Answer
You would need a reflex camera with a wide angle lens and no camera has a power supply for such a task.

How tall should it be and other accessories should be on it? I say make it 200 feet tall, put razor wires on the top, put land mines 100feet in front of the wall, many cameras along the border and put some kind of electric current on the wall to shock any one who tries to climb it. And make the wall out of brick!

Please note: although I know some dumba s s is gonna say this, i am not prejudice against Mexicans, but statistcally showing, they are the ones that account for the majority of the illegal immigrants, plus the people that come from South and Central American countries that travel through Mexico.

Answer
My Design
For A COST EFFECTIVE
Nearly 2000 Mile
INPENETRABLE Border Security Barricade
For The US / Mexico Border

All US Border Patrol Manpower And Equipment
Will Be ABSORBED By The Army National Guard

The Mission Of Border And Port Security
Will Be Charged
To A Joint National Guard / Coast Guard Agency

Every 200 Miles (Or So) Along The Southern Border
In UNPOPULATED Areas
A Military Recruit Training Center Will Be Built
In Strategic Locations Suited To The Terrain
For ANY And / Or ALL Branches Of The US Military
Total Of 10 (Or So) Facilities
Complete With Detention Center (STOCKADE)

Every 200 Miles (Or So) Between THOSE Facilities
Strategically Located At A Stagger
A US Army National Guard Armory
Total Of 10 (Or So) Facilities
Complete With Detention Center (STOCKADE)
Perhaps A K-9 Training Center
And An Airfield To DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS

At A Stagger To Those Facilities
Every 50 Miles Or So
A Small Watchtower / Detention Center
Similar To A County Jail (Stockade)
Total Of 40 (Or So) Facilities

The WATCHTOWERS Are A Key Feature
HIGH Watchtowers
Like The Forest Rangers Use To Spot Fires
We Wont NEED Any Cameras
Whats Wrong With Good, Ol' Fashioned GUARD DUTY??

High Power Binoculars
Night Vision
Radio Dispatch
Sounds Like Fun

Border Security Will Become A PART
Of A Recruits Training
In ANY Branch Of Military

In 40 - 50 Or So Different Watchtowers
Every 40 - 50 Miles Along The Southern Border
80 - 150 Different Recruits Each Day
Will Stand Guard In A Watchtower
In 2 Or 3 Shifts Of 8 To 12 Hours Each

If Youre Paying Attention To The Program
You Realize That There Is A CONSTANT
MILITARY PRESENCE On The Southern Border
Every 50 Miles Or So

The Military Presence Has Absolutely NOTHING To Do
With Border Security Or ILLEGAL ALIENS
They Are There To TRAIN

But The Mere Thought Of Trying To Cross A Rifle Range
Or A Tank Ordinance Range
Or A Guarded Armory
Is A REALLY STRONG DETERRENT

If Your Following This Project
And The Strategic Placements Of The Facilities
You Realize That We Have
40 - 50 Sections Of Fences / Barricades To Build
Approximately 50 Miles Each
Again STRATEGICALLY Constructed
In POPULATED Areas
And Aggressively Patrolled

The Fences / Barricades Will Be 50 Miles Maximum
From One Outpost Or Facility To Another
Less Than One Hour Drive

Heavily Patrolled Border Roads Along The Fenceline
(Again, Part Of A Recruits Training Duties)
Will Ensure The Borders In Populated Areas Are Also Secure
K-9 Patrols In The Patrol Roads Between Fence Layers

Fence Should Be SIMPLE But Effective
Something That Will Take
More Than 20 - 30 Minutes To Breach
(Due To Trainers And Recruits
AGGRESSIVELY Patrolling The Border)

3 Layers
50 Feet Between (Patrol Roads)
Concrete Barriers

4 Ft Thick At The Base
10 Feet Below The Grade

2 Ft Thick At The Top
20 Feet Above The Grade

Over THAT A 20 Foot High Chain Link Fence
Woven With Concertina Wire
Topped With Razor Wire Barrels

The Fence Will Be 40 Feet Above The Grade
20 Feet Concrete With 20 Feet Chain Link Over
If They Get Over Or Through ONE
They'll Hafta Get Over Or Through ALL 3
Without Being Spotted

Short Answer :
MILITARIZE The Border

Any Questions ??

At The U.S./Mexico Border = 14 Days of Iraq War
Posted by The Watchdog -
August 6th, 2006
VDARE

Below is a sample of homeland security items
in the FY2007 Budget,
their estimated costs,
and the time it takes the Pentagon
to burn through the same amount in Iraq.

* 1,500 new Border Patrol agents:
$459 million ($306,000 per agent)
Iraq spending equivalent: 1.9 days

* Container Security Initiative (CSI)
to pre-screen U.S.-bound cargo
at more than 40 foreign ports:
$139 million
Iraq spending equivalent: 13.9 hours.

* An additional 6,700 Detention Bed Spaces
to replace âcatch and releaseâ
with a âcatch and returnâ policy:
$410 million.
Iraq spending equivalent: 1.7 days

* An enhanced Worksite Enforcement program
to âsend a strong deterrence message to employers who knowingly hire illegal workersâ¦â:
$41.7 million
Iraq spending equivalent: 4.2 hours

* Border technology
to enhance electronic surveillance:
$100 million
Iraq spending equivalent: 10 hours

* 18 additional Fugitive Operations teams
(raising the total to 70)
dedicated to catching
the estimated 450,000 individuals
who have absconded
following their deportation orders:
$30 million
Iraq spending equivalent: 10 hours

* Completion
of the San Diego Border Infrastructure System,
including multiple fences and patrol roads:
$30 million
Iraq spending equivalent: 3 hours

And now for the grand finale.
Although this last item is NOT the least costly,
it may yield one of the biggest benefits.

After the first 10 miles of border fence was completed,
arrests of illegal immigrants
trying to cross the San Diego border sector plummeted
from about 25,000 per year to 3,000 per year.
But of course the San Diego fence
pushed the illegal influx eastward,
into the (less hospitable) Arizona desert.

A serious commitment to border security
would require fencing off the entire southern borderâ
all 1,891 miles of it.
(For comparison, we have 40,000 miles of Interstate highways.)

At $1.7 million per mile
(the cost of the first 10 mile stretch in San Diego),
the entire U.S.-Mexican border
(all 1,891 miles of it)
could be sealed off for $3.3 billion dollars.

Iraq spending equivalent: 13.8 days.

Cost/benefit analysis, anyone?

whats an easy way to buck(steal a couple things)?

Bmx Skater

lmao i know i shouldn't be asking online. its not that i need to know, i have a report on how people have stolen easily. i just have to write about stealing maybe headphones (not big ones) or fish reels or crap like that. what the easiest way to go in and just buck it. is it to take it out of the wrapping stuff or what about the scanner things at the door? does that do anything?

Answer
Obviously I don't endorse stealing, nor do I do it myself, but regarding theft in an "academic" sense, this is roughly how it's done (but don't take this as advice, especially in a legal sense)...

Know what you want b4 hand and make sure you can fit it under clothing without anyone seeing you do it. On your shoplifting trip, give off an air of power, importance, and being in a hurry. Don't make furtive movements. If appropriate, ask the store clerks for something (maybe an item the store is not likely to have) and be friendly and professional, so they think you're a valuable customer instead of a crafty thief.

For men, if you want max security, hide items in your briefs next to your scrotum! Pants pockets are plenty secure too though, and may be easier to put things into discretely. It's safer to steal if you also buy legitimate goods at the same time.

Be very aware of camera placement (mirrors, darkened glass, etc prob conceals cameras). Don't steal in front of cameras, unless you really just don't give a f*** and you're prepared to deal with security aggressively.

If you're accused of stealing, deny it and continue walking at a very brisk yet casual pace. Don't hesitate or slow down. Only run if you see real cops or security guards who are bigger than you. Don't mistake rent-a-cops for real cops and don't take s### from them. If you have no possibility of escape, cry if you're a girl or apologize sincerely if you're a guy.

Above all, don't steal from small businesses because that's just evil. Walmart, on the other hand probably deserves it.

How do you hook up a security camera to a dvd recorder?

best security camera system on the market on Museum Shop: Historical Museum Shop, Stone's Arms & Armor Book ...
best security camera system on the market image

John

i just bought a security camera and a tv from walmart . I need to record it on a dvd-r disk but im not sure what equiptment i need and how to set it up. thanks-john

Answer
You just wasted whatever money you spent at walmart they will work well for dummy cameras but that's it

Not all DVR are created equal, in fact there are many options that offer varying levels of performance much like the automobile industry. In the world of DVRs you can buy the equivalent of a $10,000 Kia and a $350,000 Ferrari and everything in between. Both have 4 wheels and windshield but that is where the similarities end, itâs under the hood that counts. And using the car analogy what you have here with the the Walmart camera is a used lawnmower that needs the blade to be replaced.

Just like any other consumer electronic in the end you get what you pay for. Most retailers and sellers make about a 40-80% profit margin, this is after costs like shipping and overhead. That means when you buy a product that costs $100.00 the manufacturer usually has only spent $30 to build it which simply means itâs not a good product and will probably have a working life of about 2 months. There is a reason these products are 1/10 of the price of good and reliable DVR brand names. The type of seller these products attract are online sellers (ebay) and will make profits margins as low as 2% which means they canât afford to offer good service or allow for RMAs (returns). Cheap products are like disposable razors they are NOT designed to last for a long time and you will end up replacing them every 2 months.

Now some products can be made cheaply like ipod cases, screen protectors, and other simple products with no moving parts or electronics. DVRs need to be good quality as they run 24/7 (20X more than the average electronic device) and process anywhere from 30-480 frames per second which in a year is over 15 billion images, and a good DVR should last 3-5 years.

A true DVR requires years of research and development to facilitate the seamless integration of both the hardware and software. DVRs are highly complex systems that must run 24/7, processing millions of images per day and are one of the few products that canât be made both well and cheaply. Cheap and inexpensive products like Q-see, Swan, Lorex, and other low grade DVRâs sold by Tiger Direct, Newegg, Sams Club, are not used by security professionals and should only be used by hobbyists.

I suggest you buy a PC based DVR has they have more processing power and normally have a much smaller file size and offer more features then Standalone DVR's. I know many people buy a cheap standalone DVR, only to upgrade to a PC based in 6 months especially when they are using it to manage a store remotely. Also PC based allows you to record up to 64 cameras where a standalone will have a limit of 16.

File size is crucial to streaming because most DVRâs on the market record at real time performance (30FPS per channel) so on a 4CH is trying to send 120, 8CH 240, and a 16CH 480 images per second which requires way too much bandwidth even for the most extreme internet connections.

The smaller the files size the more images are able to be sent, and the faster they can be processed improving both FPS and speed. File size is the heart of any DVR and goes far beyond just its streaming capabilities, as it also determines the recording storage time, how much you can back up at once, how fast it renders and searches video. The file size of a DVR impacts the performance of the DVR in just about every aspect from speed to longevity and is often the most important spec of any DVR.

If you are buying a DVR and streaming is a high priority I suggest you ask for a demo and connect to the DVR to make sure it is able to stream fast enough for your needs. Most DVRs say they have remote viewing but it is often too slow and laggy to be of any use especially if it is a standalone. Some good DVR brands that I recommend are Bosch, Pelco, Honeywell and Ascendent. These brands are what security professionals use, Q-see, Swan and Lorex are only used in residential applications because they are sold by Tiger Direct, Newegg, Sams Club, Costco and other retail outlets but are not used by any security professionals also their tech support rarely speaks English as their first language...

Here are the websites of some good DVR and CCTV camera brands.

http://www.ascendentgroup.com (AVP-4120)
http://www.honeywell.com
www.pelco.com/ (DX-4000)
http://www.bosch.com

Two good economical DVRs I would recommend are Ascendent's AVP-4120 DVR or Pelco's DX-400. They will allow you to view all your cameras instantly from anywhere in the world using either IE, or a client software. The AVP-4120 uses the latest H.264 codec to improve streaming and recording time, and will allow PCs and Apple computers to remotely view cameras. These are the DVRs I would recommend that are good quality and affordable

Is there a way to hook up security cameras so u can log into them on the internet and view them from home?

Tabbitatt

My buddy wanted a camera system that he could hook up in his house to monitor it when he is out on business. He wanted to hook up 5 video cameras in the house and then be able to view them on his computer via internet while away. Is this possible? If so how do we do this?

Answer
Very easy to do with the technology available in today's CCTV industry.

Along with the cameras, you will also want a security digital video recorder (DVR) to record the video. If anything occurs while he is out of town, he can access the video remotely anywhere in the world using an internet connection.

If the cameras are only going to be installed inside of the house, then a simple color CCD camera will be fine. If any cameras are going to be installed outside of the house, he should go with a day/night camera that automatically switches from color to black & white in low-light conditions (black & white produces a much clearer picture in low-light). He will also need an enclosure for any of the outdoor cameras to protect from the elements.

I do not recommend buying any "no-name" products when it comes to security/surveillance. As a professional in the industry, I can tell you that there are literally hundreds of new manufacturers trying to break into the rapid-growing surveillance market. There products are cheap, unreliable, and it is very easy to hack into all of their products if they are being used with remote access.

Some of the larger, proven manufacturers of the items you are looking for:

Pelco
Panasonic
Sony
Sanyo
GE
Honeywell

Take a look at the following website: www.videosecurityspecialists.com

They are one of the largest distributors of security/surveillance products. Give them a call and let them know what you want to accomplish with your mini-surveillance system. They will furnish you a quote and any literature you may need. They ship anywhere in the US and there pricing is some of the best in the country.

My recomendations:

1. Go with Sanyo cameras. VCC-6584 for the cameras inside your home and VCC-4594 for cameras outside of your home. These two cameras are the highest resolution in the industry and are the same cameras that almost every casino in Las Vegas uses. Pricing is approximately $180 for the VCC-6584 and slightly higher for the VCC-4594.

2. Use a GE digital recorder. One of the sales associate at VSSI can give you the pricing. Don't let them talk you into buying an expensive DVR with features you don't need. Ask for the least expensive 4-input DVR with the smalles hard drive space.

3. You will need at least DSL, preferably high-speed cable at your friends home which will be directly connected into the DVR. He will not be able to access the video remotely on a regular dial-up internet connection.

Good Luck!

bon jovi concert, what to wear in the winter?

best security camera 2011 image

sixteen

Me and my best friend are going to the bon jovi concert in less than 3 weeks, and its going to be cold.
I need to know what to wear.
We want to make a shirt or hoodie or what not that says Bon Jovi will you be my superman tonight? on the front and bon jovi the circle tour 2011 on the back...

What should we wear, do our hair, shoes, all that.
If its cold how should we do the shirt? layers? or a hoodie that says what we wanted to write?

Answer
Is it an indoor or outdoor show? If it's indoor you will get mega hot - you will be down to a vest top by the 3rd song!! lol. But even if it's outdoors you will still get hot with the adrenaline and all those people in close proximity, plus all that jumping about you'll be doing ;o) Ive only ever attended a Jovi show in the summer, but it still gets cold at the end, but you are usually so pumped that you don't feel the cold anyway.

Don't clutter yourself up with stuff cos you only have to carry it around with you. I tend to wear combats, a vest top, and a hoodie of some description (seeing as it's going to be Feb then i'd suggest an extra layer - a thin ong sleeved top maybe?) - that way you can tie them around your waist when you take them off. Or take a small backpack and you can put an surplus stuff inside it. I always take a small rucksack and tend to put it between my feet when the show starts, in the 18 years ive been going to Jovi shows ive never lost a bag yet!

Shoes-wise i'd say flats - i tend to wear desert boots even in the summer to prevent trampled toes - although at the last show i went to i wore my fitflops and was fine. You will be on your feet the whole time and if you are anything like me you will bounce and jump for the entire 2 and a half hour show - so you don't want to be crippling yourself in heels.

As for hair, well, after a couple of hours of sweating all your efforts to make it look nice will be in vain :o) ....just style it how you normally style it and away you go.

Take some bottles of water to glug throughout (take spare lids because security tend to remove the lids, and its a pain having no lid to your water bottle. I always hide a spare lid in my pockets somewhere and then put lid back on when i'm inside the venue.)

I always take a camera too, ive got hundreds and hundreds of lovely shots of the guys over the years.

Other than that, you are pretty much good to go. Its up to you if you want to do your hoody, if you want Jon to notice a sign it's better to do it on a sheet which you can fold up and get out when they are on stage. He wouldn't notice a top unless you are pretty much front row. But again security will not allow you to hold it up for long cos everyone behind you has paid to see Jovi, not the back of your sign lol! You might be allowed to hold it up for a bit?

I am so jealous - i have to wait until June before i can see them again - ive started my countdown already :o)

Have fun - it will be a blast - they put on a fantastic live show - ....and it helps that JBJ is god!! ;o)

What will your prophecy /prediction about year 2012?

Hemant Sen

What ur calculation & manipulation tell u about 2012.
I m not talking only about the bad things or disaster it could be good , funny ,strange etc.
Eg.
â¢Like sex tape & MMS are become trends for every college student
â¢All space satellite stop working
â¢All electronic instrument which use IC become dead
â¢Anti-UV ray cloth are use (anti- UV ray Underwear) etc.

Answer
2012 will be remarkably similar to 2011 and 2013 and not much different from 2010.

EDIT Apple will bring out yet another phone / PA / whatever with dozens of applications that few people need. Toyota and other car companies will announce models with even more distracting gizmos in them. More people will get hopelessly lost following their in car navigation systems. Some juvenile girl group will become "popular" warblers, that is, heavily promoted.
Justin Bieber will try to make a comeback. Lady Gaga will begin to fade from view.

Surveillance cameras whether attached to traffic lights or elsewhere will get even more intrusive.

The security checks at airports will get even more annoying and some people will refuse to fly. This may lead to more airlines going broke.

On Y!A there will be more idiot questions about the Illuminati and in December that year the Y!A servers will suicide over the amount of stupidity they are forced to handle.

I use an extender/repeater to get my primary signal. This allows me to use my laptop in my store. But, I'm not always in my store. I want to get a Wifi security camera but I don't know how I can set it up on my present extended connection. I know that some will send a signal direct to my Wifi tablet/phone, but wouldn't that require me switching connections from my internet to the camera signal? If possible, I want to be able to continue to operate on my internet connection, while having the ability to monitor and/or save the camera stream to my device. Is this possible? and.. how is it possible? If I wanted the camera to stream to a web address, would that also be possible using an extended internet connection? Remember, using an extender does not have a hard-line. Please, any help is greatly appreciated.

How to get IBM pc camera running on windows 8?

best security camera cnet image

Nick

Assuming i know my IDE from my AVI, (im not new to computers) I tried installing an old IBM PC camera the one with the 8889 #, now i was able to download a driver, and install it to the device, download the computer software for that device, and thanks to the YES or NO options windows leaves you with, there is nothing else i can possibly do in combinations of re installing, and setting things up, My usb port charges a phone, so it cannot be power related, anyway, my computer picks it up, and runs the software, but i get the Code 10 "wont turn on" or what ever bullshit error windows wants to leave me with, and the softwares tell me "no camera is plugged in". In my anger i have grabbed it by the cord and swung it into the door, the board came out and works just the same, so im trying one more time, is there any way to get this running with third party software, or is it just useless obsolete tech, i got an old xbox controller to work without issue on my pc, this is just crazy, i got the camera for free, so i dont care about it, the goal was to setup a security camera, can i mod the board to just work, or is my computer just not going to recognize this POS

Answer
Hey, that is a great question, thanks for coming to answers, I hope this information helps.
Press the designated button to turn on your camera. If you are using an external camera, use a compatible USB cable to connect the camera to the USB port of your computer.

Visit a website that allows you to test your webcam online. An example of a site you can use include http://www.ehow.com/how_8443971_test-webcam-online.html
Next try this.
Click the "Allow" button from the flash player settings window. You should now see live video footage from your web camera. If you don't see live video, your web camera is not working properly.
To reinstall the drivers try this. Right click on My Computer-> Properties -> Device manager -> Imaging Devices -? Webcam. Right click on the webcam and uninstall it. This will cause the computer to reinstall the drivers and software. Restart the computer and hopefully your problem will be fixed.

Is there a type of cheap security camera that can record my dad looking at porn in the act and alert my mom?

houseofmiz

My dad has been looking at porn (even when my mom is sitting right there on the couch next to the recliner) and I can easily see his screen from where I sit in the dinning room on my comp, and I've told my mom before and she believes me because she has found it all over the harddrive on his old computers. My dad claims his Mac doesn't have histroy even though I saw the option in the toolbar, and he clicks on it and its all gone, because he deleted it! We have an open counterspace which the chair is pushed up againest and whenever I walk into the kitchen he quickly closes the screen or switches pages. And whenever I accuse him hedenys it and gets extremely defensive, my dad has even cheated on my mom before. WHat is a great small (cheap) security camera I can set up on the counter, hidden beneath something and record my dad in the act to show my mom?
My dad knows about all those spy program so they won't work... he never leaves his comp alone an its password protected. My moms been planning a devoice for a while but he got rid of the papers before my mom even got to sign them or anything, he lies about my mom spending all this money to his parents, and he spends the money so we can't spend any of it, even for food.

Answer
don't listen to that jerk reyderz...obviously he is a child molester and trying to defend his own actions...

there are alot of spy programs you can load onto his computer that will show you everything he looks at and it can mail you all that info without him knowing it...go to cnet.com and there are alot of free downloads that will let you see...

A true man will never cheat on his family...it is not just cheating on his wife it is cheating on the family...the family goes through the suffering not just the wife...

I live in West Palm Beach, Florida. In a residential suburban neighborhood. It is a nice neighborhood full of properties that exceed $200,000-300,000 values. But there is still crime. I am an overly cautious person and believe in protecting myself and my family to the fullest of my ability. But a neighbor was complaining and pressing the legality of the security and motion activated lights, and when I mentioned putting up security cameras, well, she threw a fit. I thought I may give this a try before calling the local police department and asking them. So, is it legal, in my area, to have security lights or cameras on my property?

Answer
Cameras and lights intended to be used for security purposes are legal everywhere in the world.

Why was Israel so upset with Mordecai Vanunu exposing it's nuclear weapons program?

best security camera australia image

Brian

Surely the whole point of having these type of weapons is so that you are not attacked. How is that possible if no one knows and you keep it secret. Didn't Mordecai do Israel a favour in some respects?

Answer
Vanunu did Israel a favor by alerting them to their lax SECURITY that made it possible for him to get a camera and film in and then out of the Dimona after taking 2 rolls of film in top secret locations throughout the 7-story underground nuclear facility.

I began a series of interviews with Vanunu in 2005, and he told me that he obtained the keys to the top secret restricted areas after they had been carelessly left in the shower room by a supervisor.

Vanunu shot two rolls of film in the underground facility but did not develop them until ten months later while in Sydney, Australia after meeting Peter Hounam, an investigative reporter with the London Sunday Times.

After the two developed the film, they flew to London and Vanunu spent three days with Nuclear Physicist, Frank Barnaby, who had been employed by the London Sunday Times. Barnaby concurred that Israel had manufactured upwards of 200 nuclear warheads by 1985 and he also testified at Vanunuâs closed-door trial.

Just days before the Sunday Times published the front page story with some of Vanunuâs photos, Vanunu was lured from London to Rome, where he was clubbed, drugged and kidnapped by the Mossad.

Vanunu was convicted of treason and espionage, sentenced to 18 years in jail-11 ½ years in solitary- and has been kept under 24/7 surveillance denied the right to speak to foreigners and leave the country ever since he emerged from his windowless tomb sized cell on 21 April 2004.

During Vanunuâs trial, Barnaby testified, "I very vigorously cross-examined Vanunu, relentlessly asking the same questions in a number of different ways and at different times. I found Vanunu very straightforward about his motives for violating Israel's secrecy laws he explained to me that he believed that both the Israeli and the world public had the right to know about the information he passed on. He seemed to me to be acting ideologically. Israel's political leaders have, he said, consistently lied about Israel's nuclear-weapons programme and he found this unacceptable in a democracy. The knowledge that Vanunu had about Israelâs nuclear weapons, about the operations at Dimona, and about security at Dimona could not be of any use to anyone today. He left Dimona in October 1985 and the design of today's Israeli nuclear weapons will have been considerably changed since then. Modern nuclear weapons bear little relationship to those of the mid-1980.â

Peter Hounam said, "We did not pay him money, but only covered his expenses. Money did not motivate him."

Sunday Times journalist Wendy Robbins wrote, "Mordechai never asked for nor received a single penny for his information...he blurted out the whole tale without first setting out any financial preconditions. Mordechai got nothing out of the whole episode. He never `sold' Israel's secrets -- he told them."

Vanunu also told me, âThat President Kennedy tried to stop Israel from building atomic weapons. In 1963, he forced Prime Minister Ben Guirion to admit the Dimona was not a textile plant, as the sign outside proclaimed, but a nuclear plant. The Prime Minister said, âThe nuclear reactor is only for peace.â

"When Johnson became president, he made an agreement with Israel that two senators would come every year to inspect. Before the senators would visit, the Israelis would build a wall to block the underground elevators and stairways. From 1963 to â69, the senators came, but they never knew about the wall that hid the rest of the Dimona from them.

âNixon stopped the inspections and agreed to ignore the situation. As a result, Israel increased production. In 1986, there were over two hundred bombs. Today, they may have enough plutonium for ten bombs a year.â

To this day Vanunu is still waiting for his right to leave Israel which has been denied him because SECURITY has a vendetta against Vanunu which you can read all about in "BEYOND NUCLEAR: Mordechai Vanunu's FREEDOM of SPEECH Trial and My Life as a Muckraker: 2005-2010" by Eileen Fleming

You can follow Vanunu's saga at his You Tube Channel:

What is a good size for a pack for extended expeditions?

Sean

What size packs would be needed for 3 nights, 1 week, and 2 week camping summer and winter? How would a 70L pack work? Also, where should the tent be palced? I don't ever see tent attachment options for packs?

Answer
The tent goes on top or along the base or anywhere you feel it's most comfortable. Most good packs have straps on them for fixing tents and sleeping bags. If it hasn't use a couple of bungee cords. Bend the hooks round so they don't catch on things.
My tents are very lightweight so they weigh about the same as the sleeping bag and they go one either side of my pack and I can open it without them getting in the way.
Different With the Vango mountain tent...it's heavier and bulkier so it goes on top.
Put them into a couple of big black bin liners well wrapped round and carry a couple spare...very useful bags those, very light, good for sorting stuff as well, tidying the pack without having stuff out in the rain or whatever and get a rucksack cover to put over the pack...added security, weather protection.
How big?
How light can you travel? How many luxuries do you want? Can't live without music, CD player and 20 CDs? MP3... laptop.... I've seen a few like that.
How are you cooking? Got stoves and pans and loads of food? How bulky?
My MSR Dragonfly packs small.
Water bottles.....errr hydration systems for the posh technical name lot.
Water bottles have been OK for me on five continents so far. Keep it simple me....I don't go for fancy names.
Can you get water or are you taking loads of it? Weight and bulk soon adds up to not so happy with this lot to carry.
I take 1-month hiking trips all round the world summer and winter spring and autumn with a 50-litre Nomad pack and it does OK for me.
Alps, Andes, Atacama, Africa, Asia, Australia, all the same....
All start with 'A'...all Accessed without trouble....
Some people couldn't live for a weekend with that 50 litre pack. Want everything with them. Sometimes I've got field equipment in it too...stereo microscope, cameras, etc for biology field trips.
Still no problem for me but some would have.
65-70 liter rucksack carries enough to live for a year easy if you want to live simple and walk easy, or 2-week trips with loads of food, and enough goodies for comfort.
Not too bulky, easy carrying, very popular size.
But only you know if it's big enough for you...or small enough.
Have some good trips.

I am interested in buying a wireless security camera system but I don't know where I can find one. It's not something I can just find at walmart. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer
WOW bad avice

You can take your advice from people who Google or a security professional who specializes in CCTV.

Peter Brissette: there is nothing new about the products on your website in fact there are many misleading statements. many offer 3G and IE connection.

On your website you claim:
4GB Micro SD Card for video storage (7 to 10 days)

Truth: a high resolution camera with the smallest file size will use over 15GB-30GB a day (with 40% motion) a 4GB card will give you hours not days.

There is nothing new about the products you offer they are lower then the average product out there.
There good for nany cameras but not for a security system.

the products you sell (except for PTZ) only fixed cameras which will almost never work as you cant adjust the view.

there is nothing bad about your products but they are not high end please don't claim them to be.
They should mainly be used for nany cameras not for people who are interested in security (I don't think you even have watermark so images wont hold up in court though cant confirm as your website has very little information and even less specs.)

Hello sorry about that

You don't want to record 24 hours a day you want to record on motion so if there is no moment you don't records this will increase your storage a and decrease the amount of video you need to look for.

Very few cameras offer true day night performance mainly companies claim but rarely deliver.

For night operation you need IR cameras or very good lighting I suggest the latter.

You want to stick with a brand for day night cameras such as Bosch, Ascendent, Pelco and honeywell

A good outdoor Camera will have

High resolution (520TVL or higher)
Good signal to noise ratio (S/N 49DB or 50DB)
A true Sony CCD (not Chinese knockoff)
Rugged enclosure to handle vandals and environments
At least IP 66 and a suitable temperature rating for you region
IR LED's to see in pitch dark: active IR rating not projected IR as projected IR has no coloration with how far the camera can see.
2 or 3 different sized LED;s 1 size LED one type of illumination means you either wont get distance or wide angle and you want both.

I would go with the VIS-56IR-2910
http://dealer.ascendentgroup.com//dvr-irâ¦

this camera will give you 110 feet of clear vision in complete darkness and great images by day its the on I recommend for budget customer who need outdoor IR camera.

Cameras that have high resolution, and great signal to noise ratio can reducing file size on DVR's up to 50% and offer better images.

35~-25C IP 66
MSRP $75.00

here is a write up I did on CCTV a while ago hope it helps

Not all DVRs are created equal, in fact there are many options that offer varying performance much like the automobile industry. In the world of DVRs you can find the equivalent of a $10,000 Kia and a $350,000 Ferrari and everything in between. Both have 4 wheels and windshield but that where the similarities end, itâs under the hood that counts. Just like any other consumer electronic in the end you get what you pay for.

Many people have the misconception that a PC-Based DVR is simply an off-the-shelf PC with video capture (encoder) cards, display (decoder) cards and some generic OEM software. A true DVR requires years of research and development to facilitate the seamless integration of both the hardware and software. DVRs are highly complex systems that must run 24/7, processing millions of images per day. This makes consumer-level hardware inadequate for DVRs which is why Ascendent uses custom-built PCs with performance-level hardware.

My personal favorite DVR is Ascendent X4 series: Ascendentâs Tri-Fusion Hybrid Platform allows for the creation of a true hybrid surveillance system by utilizing the advantages of Analog, Megapixel, and IP technologies for unparalleled customization and expandability. I am working on government projects and use Ascendent cameras and DVR because the offer superior performance and cost less then comparable brands like bosh, Honeywell and pelco.

The X4 also uses the latest H.

I need a security camera for outside at night?

Mac

Every year the kids in my neighborhood decide to steal my christmas decorations or vandalize them.. I need a security camera for at night that can go about 30-40 feet...I want to catch the rats. I do not want to spend a lot of money and I think one camera is good enough.

Answer
Hello

It depends on what market you need it for I will give you the best cameras in each market.

Not all CCTV equipment is created equal, in fact there are many options that offer varying performance much like the automobile industry. In the world of CCTV you can find the equivalent of a $2,000 golf cart and a $350,000 Ferrari and everything in between. Both have 4 wheels but that's where the similarities end, itâs under the hood that counts.

A Varifocal lens with a good aperture a good examples are 5-50mm or 2.9~10mm a fixed lens almost never works when installing a camera outdoors. Again to ensure you are getting a good lens and optics stick no name brands and avoid online retailers, eBay, Swann Lorex, Costco and Q see and other cheap no name products.

Also if you are buying good cameras buy an equally good DVR or you will not get the performance out of its like a PC if you buy a $700 processor and a 60$ MB you would be better off to get a $200 MB and a $300 processor a CCTV system needs good optics, imaging equipment and recording device to work properly.

I recently bought 4 new webcams, I also bought extended USB cords and therefore put the webcams up all around my house and started using them as security cameras. They work pretty well but i can only view my cameras on 1 computer, is there any program where i can view my cameras at work? or on another laptop at my house? thanks

Answer
Hello

What you want is a DVR a DVR converts analog cameras and as well as storing images on site allows you to distribute video over LAN and WAN networks. (internet and network) this way you have both on site storage and recording at your house.

Here is a DVR that will work perfectly for you.

http://www.ascendentgroup.com/x4s.htm

Just about any Analog DVR will do what you are looking for and not only display them but record them as well they will also allow you to view them over the internet from a Iphone or laptop.

Many people have a misconception that IP has Superior scalability then Analog but with the advancements with DVR's this simply isn't true, you cn do up to 16,000 cameras each camera could even be from a different DVR and a different site.

And when you are using the internet to connect multiple sites together analog transmits over the internet faster with less latency using less bandwidth allowing you not only to view and monitor a situation real time but also effective control PTZ cameras.

What is the Advantage of IP?
Many of the so called advantages of IP simply don't hold water in the real world, IP is mainly Hype and marketing and outside of a few niche applications such as 1 or 2 camera installs, where MP cameras are needed or large scale wireless projects which represent about 2% of the total CCTV market, IP has very few advantages compared to analog based on performance, cost and reliability. (yet all companies touting IP will often use MP cameras to demonstrate the advantages of IP)

IP video is more about marketing then it is about performance as larger companies like Bosch pelco Honeywell axis can change for both hardware and software and once you use there cameras you have to keep using there cameras unlike analog.

Also IP sounds great, plug and play, Better image quality, use existing infrastructure, who wouldnât want that unfortunately this is often not the case.

IP is like wireless (in theory its perfect) if that was true there would be no wired cameras or analog cameras it would all be wireless IP.

IP cameras are based on CMOS
Analog cameras are based on CCD (usually)

A CMOS sensor is constructed using a array of pixels, but unlike CCDâs CMOS do not have a capacitor to store the charge for each pixel. The rows of pixels are activated sequentially rather then individually

This means CMOS has some significant disadvantages compared to CCD, this means CMOS
have inferior ability to cope with ambient lighting such as back light, bright, deep shadows contrasts, low light and IR this is also known as the real word.

In short unless you have perfect lighting a good CCD camera will outperform an equivalent CMOS camera.

File Size:
The smaller the files size the more images that are able to be sent and the faster they can be processed improving both FPS and speed. File size is the heart of any DVR and goes far beyond just its streaming capabilities as it also determines the recoding storage time, how much you can back up at once, how fast it renders and searches video. (Ascendents X3 DVR achieves file sizes as low as .3KB on normal image quality on a CIF image no IP camera on the market will come close to this) The file size of a DVR impacts the performance of the DVR in just about every aspect from speed to longevity and is often the most import spec of any DVR.

IP cameras have up to a 5X larger file size then analog cameras. (at same resolution) I have seen MP cameras that on 2MP resolution are over 300X (%3000) larger then our X3 DVR on a CIF image. This is an extreme case but generally speaking IP cameras have a much larger file size.

Most routers and switches are not designed to handle IP cameras they have enough bandwidth but they are not able to process the amounts of commands. (9 IP cameras 30FP is 230 instructions per second) standard routers have enough bandwidth (up to 1GB) but cant handle the amount of tasks (instructions) so frames get dropped latency is introduced and the effectiveness of other devices such as POS, printers and dats storage can be affected and compromised.

Donât get me wrong there are some brutal analog cameras and DVR out there but If you see a good D1 resolution image such as Ascendents Hardware compressed you will not be so quick to join the IP bandwagon.

IP is a young and emerging technology and I have no doubt that in the future it will outperform analog cameras but its not a mature technology yet. Once we start to get standard IP platforms, get rid of license feesâ and existing networks have larger bandwidths then IP video will be a good solution, but until then analog is the way to go.

Make sure you get good cameras as well, Ascendent has the best IR outdoor cameras on the market and are about %50 less then Bosch while offering triple the distance.

http://www.ascendentgroup.com/

hope this helps

Are their any good wireless security cameras that can be set up to work through a standard router?

nox m

I've been given the task of finding a good Wireless Security-style webcam that can be sent through a standard wireless router without requiring a server computer at all. Does anyone know of any that can do this?
I'm not really sure what the plans are for these cameras, just that they have to be able to work decently with only a wireless router.

Answer
Any IP camera will do, but without a server there is no way to record a good quality picture, and generally continuous recording is impossible and would slow the connection drastically. The problem is, most wireless cameras will only talk to a camera receiver, not wifi, and all the receivers are only good to connect to a standard rf port, not network.

Install Security Camera in Apartment Window?

Somebody broke into our 2nd story apartment and stole a few items. I suspect the thug friends of a teenage neighbor but can't prove it. To prevent this from happening again, can I put a security camera in the window of my apartment with a "Smile, you are on Camera" sign to keep track who walks up the stairs to my apartment?
Do I need permission from the landlord to do this, even though the camera will be inside my apartment?
The landlord won't do ANYTHING to help us, because she is afraid to be called a racist if she confronts the neighbors.
I live in Los Angeles.

Answer
We do not know the state or city in which you live, and these facts are important to give you information about your options. Therefore, we can provide only two general rules:

(1) Yes, you have the legal right generally to record public places from inside your premises. Thus, if the corridor is for your and your neighbors' use, the general rule is that you may record the corridor.

(2) You should consider consulting an attorney about your landlord's failure to protect you. There are at least two legal principles which you attorney will consider: the duty of the landlord to prevent nuisances and to provide security against known dangers. If you have put your landlord on proper notice, then your landlord may herself be required legally to reimburse your losses and to install a better security system.

If you cannot afford an attorney, then call your local bar association and ask for a referral to a "free or low-cost legal clinic which specializes in landlord-tenant law."

Hope this helps.

Shoplifting - Do people actually go over security tapes?

damn_da_ds

I was just wondering - so if you shoplift in front of a security camera, then walk off without getting caught, do stores actually review those tapes after realizing something has been stolen? Or does shoplifting happen so often that they don't really bother?

Answer
They probably do not go over them as a matter of practice. However, if they see something missing, and can narrow the time frame down, they will look at the tapes.

We have that happen occasionally. The person in charge of the department notices something missing. He then scans the bar code, and the computer tells him how many are in stock. If the count is off, he notifies loss prevention. They review the tape, find a suspect, and send us a picture.

One of us usually recognizes the person. If not, we take it to the high school where either a staff member or the School Liaison Officer identifies the person.

How can I record off of my security Camera?

I have a security camera. That has night vision on it. Problem is I don't have a dvr. What I do have is my cpu, a digital cable box that has dvr, and the camera and receiver. Is there anyway I can record footage with these items? If not what would be my cheapest route?

Answer
If the cam receiver has a USB plug, it can tether to the computer.
If it's "Plug-n-Play" it should be detected and self power through the USB line.

Then, since video takes huge amounts of hard drive, you want a 'motion detection' software, to capture things that are moving while in the camera's field of view. That reduces the space needed on the drive.
Here's some of the software (it's free):
http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/security/fwvideosurveillance.html

Hook all of these things up and test it indoors to see how it works, alignment, and so on.
"Save" from the software selected onto the computer, to a folder you create. Somewhere on the desktop is handy to get to.

How do I prevent my security camera from getting blinded by a red laser?

Joe

I just purchased a night vision security camera to be used outside and it's weakness is that it gets completely blinded by a red laser. How do I avoid this or modify it so that the laser doesn't affect it?

Answer
Best is to position the camera in such a way that this can be avoided. Red laser blinds the camera not because of the color but because of the intensity in a small area. Even if you use a filter, it won't help much and with the new laser pointers of different colors it can be even more difficult to use a filter.

Where can I find a hidden/covert outdoor security camera?

I've been searching the net trying to find the perfect hidden camera to monitor the front of my house. There's been burglaries in the neighborhood and just the other day some bastard busted up my car window and stole my speakers and amp.

Just so I can have some piece of mind, I'd like to look into a security/surveilance camera. I want something that can be hidden and doesn't look like a camera. I'd love to find something I could put in a potted plant out front, or something like that. The best thing I've found so far is a Flood Light that's a Hidden Camera, but it's non-functional and I have to have some kind of lighting in my driveway so that's not practical for me.

Any ideas?

Answer
There are a lot of wireless/nanny cameras out on the market now, but you are probably going to need a night time/low light camera if lighting is not practical in your driveway. Then you will also need to decide how you want to store your video either on a PC or VCR.

The other thing to consider with wireless cameras would be picture quality, so a wired camera might be a better option for you if there is any wireless interference. smarthome.com has a variety of brands but aer usually more expensive. x10 that has a pretty cheap wired camera that is black and white which performs better at night and it plugs right into a vcr

My neighbor used my driveway to shoot a video for you tube with out my permission. Is this trespassing?

WallyWally

No one was home on the property at the time. Discovered he had done this when I saw the video on youtube. Also he has a security camera on the front of his house which moves to point in my back yard sometimes. Is that an invasion of privacy?

Answer
It's perfectly legal to take pictures and video in places that are in full public view. In these kind of places there is no expectation of privacy. If he can see into your backyard, from his property, without taking any extra steps then there's not a problem. If he has to do something like climb a tree to see over the top of a privacy fence then it's an invasion of your privacy.

It's trespassing if you have posted no trespassing signs.

I heard that there are now fake security cameras in the market. Do they work as well as the real deal?

Answer
Fake security cameras can be used to deter criminals from entering your house or vandalizing your property. Unfortunately, if it doesn't work, you wouldn't be able to record the crime and you wouldn't have any form of evidence that would help you and the authorities identify the culprit.

Is there anywhere I can see the security camera footage of the Latasha Harlins shooting?

dluv1126

It was the shooting in 1991 where the Korean shot the black girl over a bottle juice. I wanted to look at the video from the security camera that the police used.

Answer
Not sure you can see the actual footage, but you can read a description of what is on it. You cahn purchase the full article for $4. Here is the abstract:

911, TV Tapes Tell Different Tales in Killing of Teen-Ager Murder trial: The Korean store owner told a police operator that the black girl had tried to take money. But the security recording conflicts with that version.

Abstract (Document Summary)

On the 911 recording, Du also tells a police officer that his wife, Soon Ja Du, was unhurt after the incident. However, testifying in his wife's defense Tuesday, he said he thought his wife and the 15-year-old [Latasha Harlins] were both dying when he entered the store seconds after the March 16 shooting in the Empire Liquor Market in South-Central Los Angeles.

In the security camera videotape, Harlins and Soon Ja Du, 49, are seen scuffling over a $1.79 bottle of orange juice. Two witnesses testified that Du had accused the girl of trying to steal the juice, even though they said the teen-ager tried to pay for it.

Harlins is seen striking Du in the face at least three times on the tape. After Harlins backs away, Du throws a three-foot high stool at the girl and is seen getting a handgun from beneath a counter.
