I am selling my home and moving into a rental that doesn't have a preexisting security system. Can I cancel my contract with ADT because of this?

Answer
Great question. First, the ADT contract: depends where you are ion the contract terms. There is usually an initial term of three years, followed by a renewal period (and that varies by state, and by when you bought the system, and even by whether you bought it from ADT directly, or one of their authorized dealers). The contract will tell you exactly what the timing is, and the penalty for early termination. Companies like ADT discount the upfront cost (and lose money), which they make back over time from the monthly fee. If you stop paying the monthly fee, they are possibly not even breaking even on the relationship - and they do not like that. They may be willing to work with you, so it pays to try. As for as getting a system from ADT for your rental, that will be a tough one. But again, it pays to ask. They may be willing to set you up in the rental, but from what I hear, it's a stretch.

In the past, there were few choices for renters, since most alarm companies did not want to deal with them. Now there are 100% wireless systems, which means not just the sensors (and landlords like wireless sensors!) but also wireless communications. That means cellular monitoring, the only truly safe way to go, and with so many folks going cell only, it's the solution for the future. It also means you can move it with you from apartment to apartment, or to a house.

You may decide you still want a system, even though renting. If you had a system before, and are used to it, that may mean it's part of your peace of mind. So, you may be shopping, and looking into the few companies that can serve renters. There are a lot of things to consider in a new system: first, is the equipment listed by Underwriters Laboratories listed, and CP-01 compliant? Many states require these levels of approval, and there are recent entries into the alarm industry that are not "real" alarm companies - they just provide equipment and service - and you hope they are the real deal. Another way to tell is the cellular network they use: you want GSM (the same network platform used by AT&T and T-Mobile for coverage and reliability). frankly, I would be worried about any "one-off" networks.

Another point is licensing - and this is a good way to tell the newcomers from the bad guys. Make sure the company you choose is licensed in your state and local jurisdiction, as required. The real alarm companies spend the time and money to become and remain compliant, and that says a lot.

Then comes interactive features. You probably want the best, like the features sold by Alarm.com through a network of dealers. Alarm.com really invented this arena, and they remain ahead of the others by a wide margin. Services now include not just the notifications, but apps for iPhone, Bâberry, and even Droid, full video with wireless cameras, and even appliance control with Z-Wave. In other words, the real deal.

You also want a full-featured system, so that you can add devices any time, from the complete array of wireless sensors out there. GE has the most complete line - and be sure you get a wireless monitored smoke/heat sensor with your system. Our company recommends at least one with every system, and it does not add to the monthly fee.

Last is reviews. you want to look hard on-line for reviews of the various companies you consider, and there should be lots of good reviews (and few if any bad ones). Look at the level of enthusiasm and specific references to things people like - are you looking for the same things!

So, as you can see, lots to think about, but worth the time. Good luck to you!

Hello, we have been having issues with someone stealing solar lights out of our front yard. We have bought cameras, and have ran it through a vcr but we have to push record and it don't record 24/7. Now tonight someone came again in spite of a sign that says they are on camera, and we wired the solar lights into the ground, someone came and snapped off 2 of them and of course the camera wasn't on because it don't record 24/7. What is the cheapest way to be able to record all of the time?? Thanks

Answer
Wow, I'm sorry to hear about this issue, must be very frustrating. Hope I can help a bit.

I'm surprised that you're using a VCR to record security footage. I am not even sure where to buy a new VCR.

New security systems of any value record to a DVR or to a hard drive. DVR can be set to record a 24 hour loop. A full week loop may be pushing it for most systems. But surely within 24 hours of the event you can see that your property has been vandalized or stolen, stop the record and have something. The longest most people are unable to see their properly would be the 8-10 hours they are working or sleeping. In the hours between, you'd notice the problem and then could look at the footage.

Also, modern home security cameras can be set to record if they detect motion so you don't have to ever hit "record" or actually even record for the full 24/7 but rather only at times when the cameras see something moving.

There is no VHS in the world that can record for 24 hours a day though. If you want more coverage, you have to move to a digital system that allows for greater compression of the footage and greater storage space. I would imagine that a quick conversation with ANY home security specialist will yield this information and probably the names of recommended systems.

Here's a well-rated system for under $500 that comes with a 500GB drive which can record for 120 days so there are probably cheaper systems that can do a mere 7 days but don't forget that the higher the quality of the video, the more space it requires to be stored and therefore the shorter the overall recording time becomes.

Home security camera surveillance-how much does a basic set up cost?

LJ

Lost of crime in my neighbor and interested in home camera surveillance. Is it expensive and is it worth it?

Answer
You can purchase a variety of different systems, ranging from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. You probably don't need the most expensive systems (unless your house is huge). A good option would be to place external security cameras in areas that a thief would most likely pass through before he entered your home. You can then attach the security cameras to a DVR so that they only record when there is activity.

However, I think its important to point out that while security cameras are great, they are only one (optional) component of home security. Your first goal should be a home security system. You can purchase these online and install them yourself. They are the same models as you would receive from ADT or Brinks, but at a fraction of the cost, since you do the actual installation (which is not that difficult). The site below is a good resource for home security systems and camera systems. Good luck.

your answers may save hundreds of my uncles pigs.
my uncle if a farmer (as you may have guessed) and he raises hugs, someone in the aria go out at night and poisons the hugs.
he has the barn locked all the time but the guy brakes the locks with a hammer. my uncle also has motion detection light all over the barns but they don't help because hes not home at night to see them.
so my question is what is the cheapest set up for a security cameras system.
he would prefer a motion detection, night vision, and tamper proof.

Answer
Check Frys Electronics. If you go to their website, on the left near the top of the screen in the Tabs, select Electronic Components, then Security, Closed Circuit Television... You want to look through CCTV kits or Recorders or Wired Cameras or Wireless Cameras. Those rated for outdoors will be marked "Outdoor" or "Indoor/Outdoor". Those with night vision will have built-in infrared emmiters that turn on when the ambient light is low enough.

The 4-channel (they also come in 8, 9 and 16 channel) surveillance DVRs typically have a menu selection that lets you select a motion detection area in the video frame. Normally, the video is captured at 1 frame every 4 seconds - but when the motion detection field senses motion, the video goes to real-time video capture.

As for "tamper proof" if you set them up right, you will get video of the bad person before they can destory the camera. The trick will be to locate the surveillance DVR someplace they can't find it - or high enough where they can't reach it - or see it. Or, the surveillance DVR could be inside the house and not with the pigs in which case, longer cables will be needed to run from the barn to the house. Some surveillance DVRs have IP addressing capabilities - this means they can be part of a computer network (including the internet) and be accessed from any other computer with appropriate security. All surveillance DVRs have a "monitor" output so they can be connected to a television's AV-input.

Lorex, Clover and Swann make decent consumer-grade surveillance gear.

You can set up 1 camera and a video feed pretty inexpensively - and have that video feed a computer. To do this, you will need a IP based security camera. There aren't many "outdoor rated" IP cameras... and they are expensive.

What the best surveillance cameras for home?

Fynest1

Lately, I have people coming to my yard stealing all my stuff. Im almost never home like that because of work. So is what is the best outdoor surveillance cameras that is wireless and can also be viewed from a smart phone? (Android)

Answer
"Best" would be the pro-grade stuff. You should consider setting a budget.

For around $500, Swann and Lorex make decent 4-camera kits (DVR + cameras) that can be accessed remotely - and assumes you have a good knowledge of setting up networks and maintaining network security. It will be a good idea to use outdoor-rated cameras. The cameras with these kits aren't that great, but should be enough to get you started. It is best to install the cameras under the eaves of the house or under some other weather protection (even though they are "outdoor rated"). IP-network cameras cost a lot more, so it is probably best to stay with analog cameras that connect to a DVR that is on the computer network.

When a wired camera is used: A cable with the power and video feed goes from the camera to the DVR. At each end of the cable, there's a plug for power and a plug for video. If there is a mic in the camera, there will be a plug on each side for the mic. If there is Pan/tilt/zoom, there will be another plug for that... but that is all in one cable "bundle".

When a wireless camera is used: The camera needs local power (wire #1). The video is transmitted wirelessly to a base station. The base station connects to power (wire #2) and the DVR (wire #3).

Moral: a wired surveillance camera uses fewer wires than a "wireless" camera.

The DVR can be set up to send you email when certain alarm options are set up in the DVR. That way you don't have to stare at the smartphone all day. A special client needs to be installed on your phone - before you buy, check the ratings on the smartphone app and read the manual (download it from the manufacturer you are considering) to be sure it does what you want.

Do you ever think of home security systems?

best security camera system for the money on Surveillance Cameras Guide
best security camera system for the money image

DOERR

have you ever think of best home security systems?

Answer
I have thought about home security and here are is the conversation I have to myself about it all:

A home alarm system is for when people break into your house and even though it will notify you and the police that someone has broken in the bad guys still have plenty of time to make off with your stuff. In the end you can get your home insurance to replace most of the stuff and any home repairs but it will be difficult for the police to catch the criminals.

Why not check out a home surviellance system instead? With actual cameras around your property you can literally catch any one in the act if you have the cameras positioned around the exterior of the house. Video is a lot more likely to catch a criminal than just hoping they get caught selling your computer. Even with the cameras in plain site they act as a deterant more so than the little sign on the window saying ADT protects my house. The other thing to think of is the monthly fee for a security system whereas a surveillance system is a one-time fee.

I linked to a home package that I am considering that contains everything you need to get up and running out of the box. It has 4 outdoor rated cameras, a 1TB DVR for recording up to a month of video, the ability to check the feed from my smartphone and all the cables and power supplies needed hook everything up. At a one-time fee of $399 my money is on the surveillance system.

How can you set up a home security camera with little money?

zacinnic

I always wonder what goes on when no one is in the house. I've heard of cameras that you can rotate around at your office or somthing like that.. Are they affordable?

Answer
There are inexpensive professional systems out there. You just need to know where to look. There are a couple things you need to figure out before looking for equipment. You need to first figure out where you want the camera. So for instance if it is outside you would need something weatherproof versus inside. Then you need to figure out how you are going to get the video from the camera to the monitor or recording device. So do you want hard wired or wireless. Also, whether you want to record it or not.

There is a company called Security Cameras Direct. You can order Security Equipment from home. They have cameras as low as $19.00. You can go online or order by telephone. You can chat with them online or the phone to find the best cameras. Check out their website below.

What is the cheapest system to record the video from a security camera i just bought. I bought it on ebay its a 30 led color security camera with audio and i can connect it to the tv but i need something so it can record the video and also something cheap im new to this because someone threw rocks at my window randomly and we thought it was gunshots. I tried a vcr but it dosent record for that long

Answer
You can use your vcr if you set it for EP (extended play mode). That way, it will, with a T-120 tape, record up to 6 hours in it's most basic mode. If you can find a T-160 tape, it will record 8 hours worth.

You could program your computer to record to it's harddrive, but I'll leave that answer to others more familiar with the setup and technique.

Security System with different recording times?

baddawg121

I'm looking for a security system where I can have different recording periods on each camera.
I was thinking to have around 8 cameras for my business where some would be on only during business hours and others to be on all the time. I also want the data on certain cameras to be held for X months before deleting footage.

The way I see it is that I would have to have multiple DVRs to do this.

I was just wondering if there was already a system in place that didn't make me do that though.

Answer
A DVR is enough. A DVR can control 32 security cameras at most.
As for you want to keep the footage for X months, it depends on how many cameras you run and what video quality you use. Normally, a 500GB DVR with 8 cameras can last for a month.

What is the best security camera for night?

Mike

I live out in the country and have been robbed recently. I currently have security cameras, but they are not the best of quality. I have a 4 channel DVR from Lorex and all the cords are ran already so I would perfer wired cameras. Without spending lots of money, what's the best bang for my buck? I need to see clearly at night about 100 feet. Also too, does having too many lights effect the IR of the camera? Is less or more IR rating of camera better? Thank you.

Answer
This camera is probably one of the best security cameras out there. It has a 65' illumination range, its indoor/outdoor, has 23 LEDs and has high resolution (700 TVL)

The second camera is pretty similiar, same brand and everything, but has a 100' illumination range and 36 LEDs.

The IR switches on when the light around the camera is 0 lux or below. If you leave a light on by the cameras all night they'll never switch over to IR mode, but if it is dark by the camera they should switch over. The light sensitivity or IR rating is how much light there needs to be for the camera to switch modes, the cameras I listed have a sensitivity of 0 lux, which means if there is less light out than a candle would provide, the camera will switch to IR mode.

How to protect a PC without an internet connection from viruses ?

The PC has no access to internet
The virus infections are in most probability from USB flash drives
Will this work - put a windows login password (win xp) to restrict access
My question is, If you are not logged in - and someone inserts an infected USB flash drive, does the virus still travel to the hard drive

Another route I am planning is disable the USB ports
But I need one USB connection, which I plan on connecting from motherboard internally - not sure how it will work out
Disinfecting the system is not an issue
Issue is now to prevent future infections.
I do not have control over who is pushing what usb flash drive into the PC

Answer
Just so you know:
From TechSpot (March 13, 2013); http://www.techspot.com/news/51929-critical-windows-usb-exploit-allows-flash-drives-to-grant-root-access-patch-issued.html
"Microsoft's Patch Tuesday yielded an interesting security fix for a glaring vulnerability in how the Windows kernel handles USB device enumeration. The critical vulnerability allowed potential hackers with physical access to a Windows PC to run arbitrary code with system user privileges -- even while Windows was locked and users logged off."

So if you don't have this MS-patch, then you may very well get nailed.

Some iT's fill the external ports with epoxy...the only fool-proof idea I've tried.
If you believe this is intentional, hide a pinhole camera (running independently of the target PC) to capture the room/PC and get evidence.

Statistics show that many crimes have been declining over the last decade.?

Jessy

Statistics show that many crimes have been declining over the last decade. Why do you think we are seeing a decline in crime?Do you believe that the statistics are accurate?

Answer
The "Truth in Sentencing" laws are keeping criminals in jail longer so they're not out on the street continuing to commit the high crimes. There have also been tremendous increases in law enforcement personnel and security measusre such as cameras in high risk areas.

And good citizens are purchasing more firearms for personal protection and posting security signs, motion detectors, alarm systems, security cameras and motion-detecting cam-cords in and around their homes.

Yes, I do believe the statistics, and although violent crimes are decreasing, non-violent and petty crimes are increasing.

And though there is a national decline in homicides, murder is on the rise in the suburbs and other areas not traditionally associated with high rates of violent crime, According to the Wall Street Journal Report Jan 1, 2013. The rise is the result of criminals looking for easier targets outside inner city areas where police presence has increased in recent years.

According to the federal Bureau of Justice Statistics there was a 16.7% drop in homicides in big cities - (notice the qualification - in big cities) due largely to aggressive pollice patrol in cities like New York, Los Angeles BUT during the same period homicides rose 16.9% in their outlying suburbs.

My dad installed security cameras on our property a couple months ago and just yesterday the camera caught a young man snooping in the alley and looking into my dads truck behind the garage at 530 in the morning. Just an interesting side note. My car is always parked across the street were there is no camera pointed in that direction.

Answer
Plenty of Car DVRs are available on Amazon. Though they themselves may be items of interest to a vandal.

Perhaps you should consider a combination of a Car DVR and a CCTV camera mounted on roof of your house with a powerful optical zoom capturing the scene in detail.

A $14 camera that can be connected to a DVR. The camera is small so it can be placed more discreetly and the DVR hidden in the boot. http://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Vehicle-Backup-High-definition-Viewing/dp/B005CTKYB4%3FSubscriptionId%3DAKIAIZ6BQD7DSLCTLVJA%26tag%3Drajsblo01-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB005CTKYB4

I am interested in buying a wireless security camera system but I don't know where I can find one. It's not something I can just find at walmart. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer
WOW bad avice

You can take your advice from people who Google or a security professional who specializes in CCTV.

Peter Brissette: there is nothing new about the products on your website in fact there are many misleading statements. many offer 3G and IE connection.

On your website you claim:
4GB Micro SD Card for video storage (7 to 10 days)

Truth: a high resolution camera with the smallest file size will use over 15GB-30GB a day (with 40% motion) a 4GB card will give you hours not days.

There is nothing new about the products you offer they are lower then the average product out there.
There good for nany cameras but not for a security system.

the products you sell (except for PTZ) only fixed cameras which will almost never work as you cant adjust the view.

there is nothing bad about your products but they are not high end please don't claim them to be.
They should mainly be used for nany cameras not for people who are interested in security (I don't think you even have watermark so images wont hold up in court though cant confirm as your website has very little information and even less specs.)

Hello sorry about that

You don't want to record 24 hours a day you want to record on motion so if there is no moment you don't records this will increase your storage a and decrease the amount of video you need to look for.

Very few cameras offer true day night performance mainly companies claim but rarely deliver.

For night operation you need IR cameras or very good lighting I suggest the latter.

You want to stick with a brand for day night cameras such as Bosch, Ascendent, Pelco and honeywell

A good outdoor Camera will have

High resolution (520TVL or higher)
Good signal to noise ratio (S/N 49DB or 50DB)
A true Sony CCD (not Chinese knockoff)
Rugged enclosure to handle vandals and environments
At least IP 66 and a suitable temperature rating for you region
IR LED's to see in pitch dark: active IR rating not projected IR as projected IR has no coloration with how far the camera can see.
2 or 3 different sized LED;s 1 size LED one type of illumination means you either wont get distance or wide angle and you want both.

I would go with the VIS-56IR-2910
http://dealer.ascendentgroup.com//dvr-irâ¦

this camera will give you 110 feet of clear vision in complete darkness and great images by day its the on I recommend for budget customer who need outdoor IR camera.

Cameras that have high resolution, and great signal to noise ratio can reducing file size on DVR's up to 50% and offer better images.

Low budget Economical
ASC-520B21IR-36
Economical Infrared Bullet Camera
520TVL
see 25 feet outdoors
Fixed 3.6mm lens
35~-25C IP 66
MSRP $110.00

http://dealer.ascendentgroup.com//ascentâ¦

Cheap option would never suggest a camera lower then this one
(still much higher quality then Costco, Lorex, Swann, Qsee, and other no name products imported from china)

ASC-380B24IR-36
Infrared Bullet Camera
380TVL
see 25 feet outdoors
Fixed 3.6mm lens
35~-25C IP 66
MSRP $75.00

here is a write up I did on CCTV a while ago hope it helps

Not all DVRs are created equal, in fact there are many options that offer varying performance much like the automobile industry. In the world of DVRs you can find the equivalent of a $10,000 Kia and a $350,000 Ferrari and everything in between. Both have 4 wheels and windshield but that where the similarities end, itâs under the hood that counts. Just like any other consumer electronic in the end you get what you pay for.

I suggest you buy a PC based DVR has they have more processing power and normally have a much smaller file size and offer more features then Standalone DVR's. I know many people buy a cheap standalone DVR, only to upgrade to a PC based in 6 months especially when they are using it to manage a store remotely. Also PC based allows you to record up to 64 cameras where a standalone will have a limit of 16.

Many people have the misconception that a PC-Based DVR is simply an off-the-shelf PC with video capture (encoder) cards, display (decoder) cards and some generic OEM software. A true DVR requires years of research and development to facilitate the seamless integration of both the hardware and software. DVRs are highly complex systems that must run 24/7, processing millions of images per day. This makes consumer-level hardware inadequate for DVRs which is why Ascendent uses custom-built PCs with performance-level hardware.

My personal favorite DVR is Ascendent X4 series: Ascendentâs Tri-Fusion Hybrid Platform allows for the creation of a true hybrid surveillance system by utilizing the advantages of Analog, Megapixel, and IP technologies for unparalleled customization and expandability. I am working on government projects and use Ascendent cameras and DVR because the offer superior performance and cost less then comparable brands like bosh, Honeywell and pelco.

The X4 also uses the latest H.

Answer
Vonnic are really nice, you can pick them up with free shipping at ATD Computers.

The above is a $299 kit that comes with 4 cameras and a dvr, you will just need a hard drive to record to. The IR is well too, check out a demo at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuVDBn3dzcY

Why didn't my security camera record the video?

Q. So yesterday I came home to a bit of a surprise... I live in a quit neighborhood so I never expected this. Anyway, I found my street blocked off, and when Arriving to my house, found the telephone pole in my neighbor from three doors down's yard snapped in half, and an SUV flipped in their yard.

Then I remembered I have security camera's that point almost directly where it happened. My security camera's record when they detect motion, but when reviewing the video's, it never tapped the accident? The last video before the accident was the mail carrier going up the street, then the next video was 10min later, which showed the car flipped upside down and the street full of cops, firetrucks, etc. But it missed the actual accident... how? The power surprisingly never went out, All my clocks were still set, computers still on, etc. How did it not record it? What's wrong with it?

Answer
Check your recording system, wire connection & motion detector sensor, I think it would be damaged among them.

The price is very reasonable and has good reviews. I have a 2 story home without a by backyard and driveway on one side for our truck and the other side for the garbage cans and a few small trees. Te felt of the house has trees covering the frot meaning you can hide in the front and no one will see you. I want this because its just me and my mother and would like to keep visual at all times. Could also avoid bogus law suits. Any opinions. I want the 16 channel one shown above because I want to survey every single angle I can. And want a couple in the house like garage and rooms we don't use alot,

what is a good home security system?

Dana

I am shopping around for a good home security system that isn't super expensive and works wirelessly as we do not have a landline. So far, all of the reviews I have read for the top two companies (ADT and Protect America) sound like horror stories of fraud and faulty equipment. I just don't want to get ripped off!

Answer
Good system is taking a good look at your residence
1. windows locked. Can they be
2. Are there good locks on the doors (make sure all keys are accounted for, if not,
NO EXCEPTIONS.replace the locks)
3. lights outside the doors (a well lit place at night is not a place robbers will hit first)
4. make sure there are no windows that are not easily seen (prevents people form getting in without being seen)
5. Know the people allowed in your home (robbers taking a chance at a good house to rob or were they informed)
6. take a good look at your neighbors. Make sure you take a moment to know them. They are the ones near your residence. It is always wise to at least have a good presences of who they are

and a few other suggestions
Make sure you are insured. It is not that expensive...and if anything is stolen. It will be worth it

i do not know the name of it but there are plenty of websites that will help you set up different
live cameras form your house (Inside and out). you can go on line and with a pass word you can check your home thru the cameras you set up. (Not to mention nothing is better for the police then a video of the crime)

good luck with it :)

I want to setup a new security camera system at work but I want to be able to watch from home. What do I need to do so.

Answer
Most of the camera systems you find at Wal-Mart of any electronics stores are decent at best. They may work sometimes, other times they may not. After working in the security industry for several years I tried out some of the wireless IP Cameras from electronics stores. The ones that were in any way affordable for most people did not work to my expectations. Slow load times, choppy video and just overall poor quality.

Your best bet is going with a security company who has wireless (or hard wired if you prefer) camera systems. There will likely be a monthly fee but it's 100% worth it if you want quality video. What's more is you'll get access to customer service/tech support that actually cares about you since you're paying them. When you buy a product off the shelf the "support" that comes with it is usually awful because you've already bought and they could care less.

This is a good article about home security cameras: http://www.alarmsystemreport.com/home-security-cameras/

This is also a great site to review security companies. Pretty much every one of the companies on here sells camera systems that are good quality.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I want to put up a camera (with night vision) on the front of my house, pointed at the road to record nighttime activities.

I want to record the video onto my computer.

I have several questions:

1. What's an effective and cheap way to do this?

2. What kind of camera should I look for? I'm thinking possibly using a standard Logitech webcam. Good idea?

3. What software do I use to receive the video & record it?

Thanks in advance.

Answer
Effective... get a decent quality video camera. Cheap, try using a webcam (quality of picture leaves much to be desired).

Best suggestion is to talk to a local electronics store. They will know how to set it up and best hardware to use.

Logitech webcam no good at handling moving pictures. Frame rates way too slow.

You might also want to look for issues of Canadian Security Magazine. Always good suggestions in there for home & business security at semi-affordable prices.

When you get the cam, it will supply you with a very basic vid record software. Try going to google ask looking up video recording software...

are there any wireless security cameras?

Q. I was thinking of getting some security cameras for my home and was wondering if there were any wireless ones available. I live in an apartment complex so I can't really drill holes and run cables outside. So I want something that I can just screw into the wall outside. Do you have any recommendations?

Answer
Linksys, D-Link, Logitech and many other brands do offer wireless security camera.

Should I allow my daughter to travel to India to meet a man for marriage?

chantily

My daughter who is 21 met a man online from India. They have been speaking on line with a web camera for 3 months. They are convinced that they were made for each othe for marriage. He is willing to send money for her to travel to India so they can get a fiance' visa for him to come to the US. I need advice in a hurry as she plans on leaving the end of March.

Answer
Well you are in a situation which most parents face. As you said, she's 21 and an adult and there's nothing you can do but support her which is what you should do since you're her father. If you try to stop her you may end up in more trouble, she may come to resent you if this is something she is really certain of. Children learn from their own mistakes. As far as meeting a person online is concerned; love just happens. To be honest India is not portrayed well in the USA. People will say bad things about another country for obvious reasons (racism). Every 2 years I visit India, I've been there 11 or 12 times now. States like Goa, Bombay, Kerala, Ooty, Maldives and Punjab are some of the coolest places to live in India, the crime rate is just 10%. If she is going to any of these then it is the safest thing to do. A foreign woman can even go out alone at night without having to worry about anything. There is record of only 4-5 foreigners getting raped in the last 10 years mostly due to their own mistakes. India is a very safe place. Since you wrote that that man is sending her money then obviously he's a gentleman because Indians don't spend money that easily even if they want a green card. Also Indians do not divorce their wives, it is a life-long commitment for them. My own daughter has married an Indian man and they are staying in Bombay which is a very developed state that is better than even NY. If you are uncertain about this guy you can ask your daughter to get photocopies of his passport or driver's license. These are the biggest proofs of identity in India, much like a US social security card. If he is an educated man than he is not after a green card. All Indians who immigrate legally and illegally are under graduate educated persons.
You mentioned a fiance visa; they will have to meet in person and have photographs taken in order to show it to the consulate. For him to get a US visa it would be difficult. After 9/11 the US tightened their rules considering this and if he were to be rejected he wouldn't be able to travel to any country for up to 10 years. As somebody said previously, she will need your support; be with her in her happiness. Let her live her life.

Can you Turn Off the Night Vision on a security Camera?

best security camera for night vision on Top Brands Of Security Cameras | Keep Safe At Home
best security camera for night vision image

Jhgjh

I have two wireless security cameras, but both have night vision LED's inside that light up, I wanted to turn those off but still record, so that the camera does not gives its self away despite that the video will be very dark, because its near a street light anyway. Can this be done? There is no switch or buttons on it, so is there a way?

Thanks

Answer
You need to modify the camera, to disable the LEDs, or at least mask them.

If it is truly night vision, then it will emit IR. only, with possibly minimal visible emission. You could get a purple filter to filter that.
