Can you leave your windows open if you go out or if your even in? Like on a very hot day when I sleep in my bedroom I need my bedroom window open, would this affect on how a home security system would operate over night?
Answer
I was an ADT sales manager for several years. Here is the way it works. They come and install a minimal security system in your home- and may just give you the security system if you sign their monitoring agreement, which is likely about $35.00 a month for two or three years. That's $1,260.00. It will be by direct deposit from your checking account- and it will turn out to be impossible for you to stop even after the three years. You'll have to practically take them to court to stop them- even though the contract says 36 months only (it is not against the criminal law, and the banks will not be any help). ADT is basically a "peace of mind" gimmick. It is the little sign in the yard that deterrs most criminals. You can actually do yourself a vafor and buy a small, easy to install security system, which comes with a yard sign for your front yard and it will monitor your home wirelessly- it is very easy to install yoruself. If it detects an intruder, it will call your cell phone, alert you to the intrusion, and can even show you a scan of your home from your computer's camera or a small, inexpensive camera that comes with the system. Once you see what's going on, you can call the cops and ask them to check out your home. The deterrent value of the yard sign is really all you need. The DIY systems I have seen are about $200.00 to $350.00- , they are easy to install, wireless (basically, just hand up the sensors and turn it on) and they will not rob your bank account for ten years!

Answer
Yea obviously shoplifting is illegal and people get charged.
Starts early and small then escalates into hell.
Taken from a forum search.
"Today I was caught shoplifting from Hollister a hat at 24.50 retail value. This is in Michigan. They told me I would pay 10x the amount of the item no more then 200$. This is my first offense other than a traffic ticket. The cop said he would summon me in the mail for court and what not. What am I looking at here? Jail? How much money? I'm so scared i cant eat, sleep, do anything to get my mind of how afraid I am and how dumb it was. A simple lapse in judgment. I am 19 and its a first time offense, so I was thinking maybe community service? plea for a lesser charge? i don't know anything but a shoplifting misdemeanor."

"hey i know how you may feel. I just got caught a few days ago for shoplifting as well. I am a full-time college student with really good grades. I don't know what i was thinking that day that i stole. I ended up getting caught and they put me in handcuffs. i thought i was going to jail. This was my first offense and i have no prior criminal history so the cops let me go with a citation. My court date is next month an i am so scared. The thing i stole was only $49.00 and heard that the fine can be anywhere from $250-$500 hopefully no more. Plus an additional charge from the court but im not so sure of that, that is just what other people have been explained to me. Plus i have to pay a civil demand to the store that's probably another $200-$300. i know what i do was really wrong and stupid and i truly am sorry. i just don't have enough money to pay for all the fines and don't know what will happen to me i was hoping the judge would let me do more community service. i cant even afford a lawyer, i have heard if you cant get your own the court will provide you with one. I know i am guilty. hope everything goes good for you, people have been telling me not to worry that its just a misdemeanor and that the punishment wont be that bad, but i don't know, i have learned my less, i know this will stay on my record for life, i haven't been sleeping good this past few night. Last monday I stole a deck of cards from a Riteaid and now I'm facing 52 days in jail because
of prior offenses."
