Question about security cameras and work place?

I work in a small home town restaurant that has been telling their employees that they have a security camera. to monitor the help and customers. my question is, don't they have to post somewhere in the building that it is being monitored, also they say the cameras are hidden. Is that ethical?

No, if it is their business, they can do what they want. If you don't have anything to hide, why worry about it?

I'm trying to start a small business and i am a little concerned about security/shop lifting. if you go into a normal store you see little black spheres where the cameras are. however, this makes it obvious to the shoplifters were the camera is and allows them to shoplift in its blind spot. so is it legal to have concealed cameras?

Completely legal as long as you notify people that they may be filmed. A store where a buddy of mine works has cameras hidden all over the place. Most of the domes there don't even have cameras in them.
