Put it up to record harassment I've been dealing with for eight months, now my new truck tires are slashed, all four. Should I continue with my security camera? I've seen quite a bit. And I think whoever did this knows that I know something.

There are two obvious ones.
The Security CCD Camera has no built-in tape or other recording capability and are designed usually to be in a fixed location indoors or out. They can be connected to a VCR by wire or WiFi or even be an addressable IP camera which can send images in real time to security computers anywhere in the world. In addition it has limited resolution (a few thousand pixels vs. 2 megapixels in Handi DV's), but can be chipped for low lux, IR or other specialty requirements.
The Handi DV is a lot more like any hand held video recorder but usually uses a memory card to record the images. It is the compromise between having a real still camera, digital audio recorder or video camera. It attempts to be all three.
