What is a good laptop to run three different programs at the same time without slow interruptions?

When I try to do like two or three programs at the same time one of them freezes up and I have to close one. They run slowly too. Do you know a good brand laptop for this purpose. I want on that performs fast for like uploading pictures, listening to music, looking at dvd's, downloading music, instant messenger, and browsing internet sites.
I can spend up to $2000. i want a screen size of 13.3 to 15.4.
ASEN- that's sounds good. so, are Dell computers any good? I have seen good for Toshiba, HP, Mac. I am think I want a Dell too.

i sure see no harm with dell, besides you are fully covered for 3 years and mind you the tech support for the xps line is based in texas, not india (inspirion / vostro tech support is india)
also their services good and most prompt

xps is their premier range
(also gaming, the xps m1730 for example features unique graphics to be found on this model alone and start at 4k to 5k)
inspirion is their normal home range
