I worry about my car in the parking lot. I go to a wealthy school. Do most wealthy schools in illinois have cameras? What do the cameras look like?

Most all schools have cameras unless it was one that was so broke it was nearly closing down but that doesn't sound like the case for you. So yes your school has cameras in the parking lot. They can be black half circles or look like the cameras you find in a gas station, sometimes they look like weird mirror things. With outside cameras they will hide them where people don't usualy look such as under an overhanging, in a light pole, or disguised as an outside faucet.

Hit and run accident in school parking lot with security cameras- What do I do?

My car was hit today at my school between 11:30am and 1:05pm in the parking lot while I was in class. It is on the back of my car so I didnt notice until I got home. I called my school to ask them if they could look at the cameras and see who did it and they said they cant do anything because I left. Im really pissed cause I only have liability and I want to file a police report so they will be forced to pull up the cameras. What do I do? I know for a fact that my school files insurance claims/police reports for accidents in the parking lot because it happens often. Am I out of luck JUST because I went home? This does not seem fair. It was clearly a hit and run, and they could very well see it if they just brought up the cameras.

File a Police report immediately. Remember to mention the security cameras to the police and have them mention it in the report. Ask the officer you report it to to ask the school not to destroy or tape-over that specific tape. Most recordings are on a loop and begin taping over the old stuff as soon as 24hours later, but usually 50 hours or more so they can look back after being gone all weekend. Ask the police officer if he/she can assist you in recovering a copy of the tape for insurance purposes.
Tell you insurance company the same. Mention the security recording to them also. With the insurance and the police asking I'm sure the school will be more abliged to help.
