Q. So, I've been wondering for a while about punishments of crimes and these security cameras and laws and ect, because I'm always curious. I'm JUST wondering, I'm not gonna use this to do anything wrong or something. Is there someone watching security cameras 24/7? Or do they only look back at them in a crime. For like banks and crowded malls, I would expect someone watching all the time. But like in small stores and schools, is someone really watching our every movement?! I can't imagine someone having the BORING job of watching a camera everyday, just wishing for some action.
Answer
Like you said it depends on the location. Some places have people constantly watching them, others record them and if they find out there was a crime they will review them. A lot of places (like schools) will have someone watching the monitors but they will have other jobs as well. So in a school, often times the monitors will be in the deans office or in a school police office, and the person will have other duties that they do, but they will try to keep watch of the cameras as well.
Banks definitely have people watching them all the time and stores usually do to.

Inexpensive security camera?
Wundt
I work from home and my office is at the back of the house. It would be nice to had a CC camera to show me the view out the front door (so I know if someone is at the front door or to see if my son's bus has shown up). Similarly, all of our bedrooms are upstairs and you cannot see the front door and we would like to know who is at the door before we run downstairs to answer.
Is there an inexpensive solution for this sort of setup? It looks like most sets I have seen run several hundred dollars, it seems to me that I should be able to set up something using inexpensive off the shelf pieces.

radio shack came with monitor/4 black and white camers/75ft. of audio/video for each camera/bought mine over a year ago no problems. paid under $100.00. Camers are no bigger than your thumb. Monitor has outs for recording. good luck and be safe
