Need details about Web Cams v/s Security cameras?

sam

I have a very little shop and for the purpose of recording the activities of shop lifting by customers, I want to install security camera. My question is can a simple web cam attached to my computer will do the work for me or I will have to install a CCTV camera. What is difference between the two and how much hard disk space is used in 24 hours recording. Any other thing which you think that I should keep in mind.

Answer
Security cameras generally have lenses that have a wider field of view than the typical web cam, making them more suitable for surveillance purposes. Security cameras also usually have higher resolution which translates into better picture quality.

But the biggest difference is the way that the cameras can handle lighting conditions. A good security camera will be equipped with an auto-iris lens, which allows it to automatically adjust to changing light conditions. A good security camera will also have back lighting compensation which prevents the camera from being blinded when there is a source of bright light in the scene.

Generally, a security camera would be a better choice for surveillance in your store if you are serious about recording activities of shoplifters.

Recording time is effected by many things, including camera resolution, picture size, frame rate, and type of recording format used (MPEG-4, H.264, etc). Figure out what types of cameras and video recording software you will be using, and then consult the camera/software documentation to see what your disk storage requirements will be.

Also, there are many online sellers of security cameras and video recorders, and many of these have calculators that you can use to figure out how much disk space you will need.

Security cameras and kissing?

My school has security cameras and me and my bf wanna kiss. Where do we do it without being caught? If my mom found out I would be dead!

Answer
All security cameras have a limited viewing area, a limited range. It should not be that hard to find areas they can not see. Doorways, empty rooms, the janitor's closet, sometimes the camera can't see right under itself, if there are too many people between you and the camera.
Get a look at the monitors, the tv screens that show what the camera can see. That will give you an idea what the cameras can actually see, that will help you understand what you can do. There are aways blind spots, areas not covered.
