Q. Iâm asking this in 2 categories: Computers & Internet Security and Computers & Internet Hardware>laptops & notebooks.
I hadn't been home 20 minutes and only been online 5 minutes when a pop up invaded my computer saying that the FBI had seized my computer, confiscated all information, McAfee scanner had recorded all activity, and the FBI wanted me to go to Walmart, get a green dot card, put $200 on it, put the code from the back onto that pop up screen or I was subject to arrest in 3 days and my ISP address was displayed. They also had me on the laptop camera, which I didn't even know I had a camera, and it was recording me in my nightgown because I had already put on my night clothes.
Problems I'm having
1. I don't have McAfee on my laptop so how can something I don't have record something I didn't do
2. They didn't tell me what I'd violated or clicked on that caused the FBI to investigate me
3. I had my son, who has a degree for IT, to take virus off the computer, but now, my video card is damaged
4. Why would the FBI want me to go to Walmart. Wouldn't they have come to my job or got me coming out of my house or something like that if they really wanted to get me?
5. I suspect its those d*** Nigerians again since they seem to not want to quit it with elaborate email scams which I usually avoid. If they put half as much energy into legal things as they do illegal things maybe they'd be running the world. So much for that!
My questions: Since I never knew I had a camera on my laptop and evidentially itâs been on all this time, who else had capability to record me. I've watched movies on it while cooking, played DVD's while taking a bath, played music while in the shower and other personal things. Could anyone, who knew I had a camera, have been watching me?
Now that I know itâs there and itâs on, I have no idea how to turn it off. I've put a sticky note over the little circle until I can figure this out.
Jospeh my son didn't get off work until 3 am. he ran the scanner to remove the virus and went to bed. he has to get back up and go somewhere this morning he won't have time to look at it until later this afternoon. Does that answer your question.

This IS an extortion scheme. It has been around a while. You probably got it from some shady site that was infected. Be prepared to lose the works. I heard this thing encrypts the hard disk or many files which is what they hold hostage to get you to fork over untraceable cash. No one from the FBI is involved here, only some bunch of idiots trying to extort you for $200. Here is a link to a news story:

General Franks said that if terrorists attack us again, we may have to set the Constituition aside for a bit so that our leaders can fix everything. The government's supposed to protect us, right, so what's so wrong about just letting them do their job?
I personally don't think it's a big deal if it means we are all safer.

Well the evidence is just way too enormous to dismiss , ever heard of Operation Flower Garden ? Well if the answer is no , Operation Flower Garden is a military operation to take Americans from there homes and place them in " camps " . Which by the way F.E.M.A. has a major contract and currently they are building these so called camps all over the U.S. to hold upwards of a million people each . Everyone in the U.S. will be required to carry a National I.D. card by 2008 . There is also a plan being unleashed to put a micro chip in every human being by 2012 , that will be able to identify them and people will be able to pay for items using this chip inserted under your skin . This micro chip is called a R.F.I.D. , the way this is being implemented is under the guise of young children to not be taken away and so we can track terrorists . This however will eventually by 2012 , be used to track every American citizen and to wipeout paper money and instead use electronic money - just numbers on a screen . There is talk of more security cameras , air drones patrolling American city's and check points no matter where you live , to go from city to city . Then we have the world government which will be installed be 2012 . This will happen when there is so much conflict all over the world that the U.N. will be overwhelmed , and the world government will be formed with a one world currency . There is already talk of a global economic collapse by as early as 2008 to get rid of paper money and install this world government sooner or perhaps it will happen because of WW 3 which I believe and many other people as well , that it will happen by 2012 . The camps I mentioned are already being used on T.V. on a show I bet people have heard of - the show 24 . So when these camps do become operational people will be willing to go , instead of putting up a fight .
