In the UK, must be friendly and minium hair or dirt around the house
Answer
Are you looking for a dog simply to protect your house, or are you looking for a dog primarily as a companion and second as protection?
If it's the former, the best dog for you would be a security alarm and camera.
If it's the latter, any dog that will bark actually tends to be good. Burglars will think twice if they hear a dog at all. I do also agree with the other poster that GSDs (or Alsatians) are quite good. They are a family dog, though they do shed, particularly blowing chunks of coat in the fall and spring. Belgian Shepherds are a similar choice. In fact, any dog is going to leave hair or dirt around the house so again, if that's a serious criteria for you, consider an alarm and camera instead.
If you do end up choosing to get a dog for companionship and protection, be sure that you find an excellent breeder. They should be active in showing, competing, or training their dogs, should focus on only one or at the most two breeds, the pups should be raised in the home, and you should be able to at least meet the mother. The breeder should test for hereditary diseases (particularly hip dysplasia in GSDs) and should be breeding for structurally sound, healthy, and well-tempered dogs.
Your other option would be to check your local rescues and meet a few dogs to decide which one has the best temperament for you.
Whatever you do, don't buy a pup sight unseen from online or from a pet shop. These puppies often come from mass producers (puppy farms or puppy mills) where the parents get little health care or socialization. These sorts of places will not produce the stable temperament or general soundness that you would need in a dog.

What other jobs can you do after being a Security Guard?
Dave
Well im just wondering what other careers or jobs do you think you could do after being a security guard?
This is just me wondering what you could swap a security job for as i think negatively and think that you wont be able to change your job from security guarding. As i think eventually i would like to change my career.

I had the same problem - I did SIA work whilst I was in college and I did not like it very much.
A friend of mine set his company up from being a security guard, he is now a security consultant - he advertises as a firm that helps to improve home security, security cameras, locks, alarms, etc. He makes very, very good money!
If you go online and search for "courses for security camera installing" this should give you some idea of what I'm talking about.
ALso, locksmith is also a good home security skill as well, maybe take a look at that as well
