Reasons to get an iPhone/Why iPhones are better than Android?

UnknownAsk

I currently have the Galaxy S Aviator by Samsung, which by now is a bit dated. My phone carrier is finally getting the iPhone this summer and I really want one because I'm not very impressed with the droids I have had. I need reasons on why to get an iPhone that my droid doesn't already have, for example, Siri.

Answer
Better battery life, camera, virtual assistant, OS longevity, app selection, media selection, security, design, OS, etc.

how much privacy is Android Apps taking from me ?

hey,

i recently bought a smart phone (android) and while i was bowsing apps i was shocked by what information they wanted.

some of them say ``read phone calls`` read text messages ect......

does that mean they can tap my phone calls, read my txts ??

and why exactly would they want to read phone calls for an app like dictionary ?

all answers are welcome :)

i`m getting the feeling that 1984 george orwell is really upon us !!!!

thanks in advance )

omfg...

1984 is APPLE!... 1 phone.. 1 man.. 1 company.. utopian soceity being told what to do, how to do it, and, like Steve Jobs said to his loyal fan base--- DEAL WITH IT! Google Made Android to combat the onslaught of Steve Job's and Apple's 1984 Draconian Future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With Android, your free to use it any way you want... and if your can do something with Android... make the app yourself or find the app to make it do it... you NOT limited and told to live your life According to Google... Google gioves your freedom.. It endorses Rooting.. It loves Rooting.. It made Nexus Class phones, which have NO carriers or manufactur lock and kernels... its already rooted pre-boxed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apple would kill its fans if they got ahold of a "jailbreaker"... Saying Google is leading the 1984 revolution is a big huge INSULT! go to youtube and see the Google I/O 2010 conference... and tell me if google has 1984 on its mind!!!!!!!!!!! geeesh!

First, understand the difference between Android OS (an open source program(anti 1984)/firmware that anyone can build off of and make better) and hardware (the plastic and metal that make your phone)...

Android, since its open sourced (anti 1984), needs permissions to use hardware. Its not built into its coding. Android isnt FORCED to use the hardware... its open sourced.. This is why Androids are on so many make/models.. gotta love open source! Go LINUX... anyways!... ok cool, so it needs hardware permissions... you hit the camera button and walla... camera... you hit SEND and walla, a phone call... there more to it, but for you, ill leave it at that.... so....... what about Android Apps???? Since they are based in Linux and Android OS too, they require permissions from Android in order to run properly... not hardware permssions, since Android does that... they need Android permissions.. program permissions... get the drift...

In your dictionary App example, Permission "Phone Call", which controls phone calls, call log, history etc, contacts, etc, doesnt mean hacking your personal info and selling it to Al-Queda... If it did, Google wouldnt allow it on the market. LMFAO.... think people think!!!!!!!! Dictionary needs that Permission in case you type in a name and mispelled it, so dictionary can fix it for you. Or went into contacts to make a new contact or edit a contact and mispell names, locations, address, personal notes&messages, emails, etc... that is why dictionary need that permission... Not to ruin your life... but to make it better! If your paranoid, then dont download the app!

Wanna get really paranoid??????? Lets talk about a simple Mobile Banking App... Why would that need "Phone Call" Permission??????? Well, if you want to call your bank directly from within the app instead of closing the banking app, opening call app, trying to remember the banks dept. phone number. etc etc etc ... get the drift????????? just tap "call" in the app and walla... it calls the bank...

There are tons of permissions for Android.. Most developers are starting to put "REASONS FOR PERMSSIONS" in the App description on the Market, to calm the schizophrenics down and to keep the worried Americans, like you, who are scared about "being hacked"...

And, if your EVER worried about an app and your security... either email the developer regarding why it needs permissions (given that not everyone reading this is tech savy like me and understands PERMISSIONS)... or simply... dont download the app... you may also wanna go back to a flip phone too..... at least Android shows you the permission... that more than I can say about iphone, windows phone, blackberries, etc.... I wonder what THEIR PERMISSIONS ARE... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
