anybody has experience with ip cameras?

Curious Du

So i'm looking to wire up my house for surveillance, I dont need anything too fancy like $200 cameras or so.. I'm looking for something that will just work, I would like it to have pan and tilt, and maybe zoom would be nice.

I have heard about the brand Foscam, do anybody have experience with this? reviews?

And, if not, can anybody recommend a trusted brand ? nothing too expensive, but something that is not cheap either, I will need it to work. I want motion detection and etc.

Answer
Not familiar with the hardware end of things, but if you want pan, zoom & tilt, you're probably going to pay a lot more.
A Wide Angle, with hi-resolution may be cheaper, and still cover a decent area. Check on the "Resolution" for field of view (may be in degrees) to get a comparative idea. Get 2 cams if necessary for full coverage. (some of the items below can handle multiple cams).
For software, here's some free items that work pretty good:

Pick one you think fits the bill, and hook it up inside the house to try it.
Get another one if it's too hard or doesn't cut the mustard.
Good luck.

I need a simple home security camera just to monitor who is entering my home "uninvited".?

The choices just on Amazon alone are overwhelming. Just need recording of my front door area and a way to review it. Do not need anything uber high tech, just something that will capture video of intruder and only need it once to show police.

Answer
Zmodo security cameras can meet your needs. You can go to its official site http://www.cctvfocal.com/. From my experience, an ip camera is okay for you. with wifi or internet, you can access to the monitor by smartphone or PC any time any place.
