Can you remove a light fixture outside and use the wiring to install a security camera?

Zyvox

I want to put up 4 security cameras around my house.
I need an electrician to do it and i need it as cheap as possible.
I have some light fixtures outside that i could do without.
could that wiring supply a new security camera?

Answer
security cameras are most likely serial and they feed with low voltage (adaptor). In kit you will see a long cable that will connect to each camera and to one adaptor .If you want to be secure source to power you should use the interior supply to power the camera .That mean all the wiring must be interior and only thing that will be install out side is camera it self with secure wiring and no wire is require in out side at all .Reason that if wire be visible in case that wire be cut camera will be out of use at that section .
If you need more wires there are extensions that you can connect to each camera to reach your want
cause cameras have audio-video and also power supply that will connect to the monitor .Other wise you can use the wireless cameras they are cheaper and easier to install ,just power them each separately to a power source and then active the wi-fi system in your monitor.

is it easy to setup a security camera?

My friend gave me an X10 camera that her brother was no longer using. Anyone know how I can go about setting it up as there were no instructions included?

Answer
Hello,

I have an XCam kit and its very easy to use. You need two things:
first is a camera, and the second is a video sender (the device that looks like a donut with an antennae)

make sure you plug your camera in for power and aim the antennae of the camera towards the video sender. Next, take the video sender and plug that into a television. (It uses RCA cables) so plug it into the input of your tv.

it's as simple as that. Your camera should be sending a signal to your video receiver. Just tune your to the RCA input that your receiver is set to and you should be receiving the picture of your camera.
