Q. Okay, I'm getting a security camera system with DVR. The cameras are going to be mounted inside the window, mounted to look over the front of my home. They can't be mounted outside, as vandals will tamper with them. I was wondering where should I aim them. It is mainly for my driveway, but there is a van and a car parked on the street. Should I get more than 1 camera, and where should I aim each camera. Thanks

Thomas - Good question. By the way, are these cameras motion-activated? A lot of good cameras are these days (like ours) - so it means that the recording only happens when there is movement, and that makes reviewing the footage a lot easier. In addition, the good cameras allow remote access via any web-enabled device, so you cold access the cameras from anywhere, if you wanted. These systems have really evolved. We sell two indoor cameras that are wireless, and one hard-wired external camera. I use the fixed camera in the basement (where our home office is, so it's protecting all the computers). As for the upstairs, I use a pan & tilt camera pointing out the window. It's got a wide field of view, and with the remote control of the pan & tile, I can see just about anywhere. Also, sounds like you need infra-red functionality, if you want your camera to see at night (in total darkness), so make sure you look into that as well when shopping. Our indoor cameras need some light to see, but there are infra-red indoor cameras to point our a window - they just cost more.
